I wasn't trying to argue, was seriously asking. But for much of the season Hoffman was the third-best reliever (or at least second-best righty) and they had already used him. It does seem like Thomson is being a bit reactive in the post-season (i.e. he went away from Hoffman after his one bad outing and now has done the same with SD) but hey, according to at least one person on the board Kerkering is our best reliever.
Strahm, who has all those pitches and can get guys from both sides, is the other consideration, but if you did that then you would have to use Soto against a lefty and leave him in. I do wonder if they are also hoping to save Strahm for tomorrow (though if that's the case Sanchez will never pitch).
Rojas is like the pitcher at this point, just let the order turn over.
