Where did you see that he wouldn't be ready for training camp? I saw an article on si.com that said he would be cleared for training camp. Apparently, he has a torn labrum, which is no easy injury to recover from.

Howie in the press conference talked about Micah Parsons and Abdul Carter as being college LBs who moved to edge. Really sounded like they view him as an edge first, but versatile enough to do other things. His highlights are scary--he’s really fast and hits hard. Interesting that he wore “the sticks” just like Parsons and Carter.

I think he will be versatile enough to switch between positions but initially is insurance on Dean. Campbell is fast and can pop. I like the pick. He seemed to have pretty good motion in his shoulder at the draft so I think he is recovering well. Did not see it coming though.

I wonder what the Eagles see with Cine? If he is fully recovered from his injuries, this was a steal. I remember him when he played at Georgia.

Here's another mock draft I did today after round 1. Traded down in the 2nd and ended up with two more 4ths.

Would need some luck for the draft to fall that way but the Eagles already got lucky with Campbell dropping so crossing my fingers.

I love the Campbell pick. He is basically the old “Monster” position. He can rush the passer, run down RBs from sideline to sideline and cover RB and TE. What more could you want? Given some time to get used to the pro game I think I Fangio may come up with some really fun uses for this guy.

This pick may be the one that puts us “Best Eagles Team ever” territory. This defense is going to be terrifying if they can keep Carter focused like he was at the end of last season.

Am I the only one that wants them to extend Jordan Davis mostly just to keep Jalen Carter out of “trouble”?

Honestly, Carter is that good as he proved at the end of last year. As much as anyone, he beat Washington and KC, he may not have piled up the stats, but if you watch the game carefully you realize everyone else is free to make plays because the offense was so worried about him.

He reminds me of a young Fletcher Cox, maybe even better. That is a big statement.

I saw he was rated #12 overall by one Source (NFL?) and #13 by another (PFF?). Getting him at #31 is pretty good.

I watched the draft on ABC with the college gameday team and Nick Saban said he slid because “he might not be ready for camp”

I would have liked Tyleik Williams at #32 to give some flexibility on extending Davis. Unfortunately he was already gone.

Some writers saying Howie ignored 'red flag' health issues, but at pick 32 I think you need to take a risk to add a potential star. I would not trade out of 2nd round. I'd try to trade up to land some more immediate help. There are still some very good prospects left but they'll be gone by round 4 or 5. The Eagles need quality more than quantity. Looks like we are keeping Goedert (with that said, he'll be traded before round 2 ends).

I agree with extending Davis -- not primarily because that will help keep Carter focused, but because he can grow into a good DT.

I think that adding a LB in first round isn't a knock on Dean, it's advance notice that later in the season we will see a 3-man front with 4 LBs.

I think if the Eagles stay at 64, they will draft S Kevin Winston from Penn State, if they move up, I'd target any of DT Darius Alexander, or S Nick Emmanwori or S Xavier Watts.

They might want to trade up in round 3 too in order to get one of the TEs that will likely be there (Fannin, Ferguson or Arroyo)

I also like Arroyo (who I think PC likes) and Ferguson more than Fannin. I am aware of his stats, but Fannin always seemed stiff especially after the catch. I generally don't think that's something you can fix, but if you can he will be good.

Agree. Would rank them Arroyo, Ferguson, Fannin. I'm not sure I'd draft Fannin, even at 96.

Always liked Mason Taylor to the Eagles, but it seemed unlikely unless they picked him in the first or traded down ~10 picks.
