There were a lot of departures/snaps gone from the secondary and they only added one player. Slay, CJGJ, maddux and rogers. I wonder what the plan is, especially at safety. Even if they expect Ringo to step up, they need to replace the depth/special teams players.

Blankenship has one S spot - Mitchell & DeJean obviously hold two of the CB spots (outside & slot).

So, one S and one CB spot are up for grabs and then you need depth.

The current in-house options include Cine, Brown & McCollum at S and Jackson, Ringo, Ricks and Nickerson at CB.

Rumors of vet S Justin Simmons wanting to come here and the Eagles possibly being interested. Raiders & Browns also possible interested in him.

I think signing Simmons depends on how Cine looks, Brown continues to develop this offseason and who is available during the draft. I expect a S draft pick, but Eagles do like Cine since they grabbed him last offseason. They like McCollum too since he played over Brown when CJGJ was out during the season.

At CB, it is between Jackson & Ringo IMO. I think Ringo will get the shot, but Jackson is here if he stumbles or gets injured. I thought they would keep Rodgers, but they got outpriced on him unfortunately. I could see a draft pick here too since their depth with Ricks & Nickerson are mediocre.

Eagles have signed veteran OT Kendall Lamm, he looks like he will be the swing backup tackle

I think Lamm will compete for that job, not be handed it. Depends on the draft and whether Steen plays guard or is a backup himself. Also depends on how they plan to use Kinnard, who is reported across the beat writers as a Stoutland favorite.

Believe the league permits 30. Recollection from last couple years was you would read that they were at least in the mid-twenties, perhaps they used all 30. Recollection from draft biogs is that players drafted were usually among the 30 visits, at least through rounds 4 or 5. I've always considered there to be an association between the two cycles.

Agreed, but Roseman does not make decisions without weighing all the options and analyzing every angle. I suspect the Eagles understood Becton's issues well by the end of the season and decided improvement was not on the horizon. Go with Steen or Green and invest that money somewhere else. I think the contract shows that the rest of the league also knows Becton is not that great.

As a followup, there is a league rule regarding 30 visits pre-draft and I guess in "draft lingo" they are referred to as "Top 30 visits" or "Top 30 prospects." Articles published within the last day are showing the Eagles having held 11 or 12 visits so far, but there's what, a month still before the draft?

I also looked for tracking articles published within a week of the 2024 and 2023 drafts. For 2024 there were 30 players listed, and included Mitchell, DeJean, Jalyx Hunt, Ainias Smith and Johnny Wilson. No Shipley, Trotter, Keegan or McMahon. So 5 of the 7 players selected in the first 5 rounds.

For 2023 an articles from the same source listed 26 players, inclding Carter, Nolan Smith, Steen and Ringo, no Sydney Brown, McKee or Ofomo. So 4 of the 5 picks in rounds 1 thru 5. Maybe interestingly, the only QB visit that year was Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

Eagles traded down in 2018, trading #32 (which the Ravens used on Lamar Jackson) and 132 for 52, 125 and a #2 in 2019. Their 2018 picks (after a couple of jumps) were Goedert at #49, Maddox at #125, Sweat at #130, Pryor at #206, and Mailata at #233. The 2019 #2 pick became Miles Sanders. Quite the good trade for both teams.
