If one of the QBs is alive at #10 your trade-back scenarios should be juicy.

I agree and that is probably what Howie would do in that scenario. I am still fine with Gonzalez, Witherspoon, Skoronski, or Paris Johnson at #10.

I actually like Paris Johnson a bit more for the Eagles scheme because he's so mobile.

He has played multiple positions, though. Skoronski is plenty mobile and more technically correct (although I haven't seen as much of him), so he'll probably be the first OL off the board and I'd be fine with that.

In that game he was no great shakes. Even the bowl games are hard to read with some guys deferring to not play and others not taking the game too seriously. Skoronski is probably the better player, but I still think that Johnson fits the Eagles offense. He also destroys Skoronski in a spider graph and has a mean streak which the Eagles seem to like. Plus, it's not like Skoronski faced better competition.

If the thought is that the Eagles should trade back and take whoever is available between Johnson or Jones, then I'll agree with that as well. Jones has his flaws, but I also think he works in the Eagles system. I'm not sure I've seen much of him outside of LT, though. He gets beat a little at the point of contact from what I've seen, but does recover well.

The smart thing to do with #10 is trade down and get more assets and use them on defense.

That said, I am secretly hoping for Robinson. The sheer amount of offensive young talent we would then have for the next year would be great to watch. Win games 45-35.

There are two players I would rush up to the podium to draft if they are there at 10, Will Anderson and Jalen Carter. If they are gone before 10, I would trade back and hope for Robinson. To me, those are the three elite players in the draft.

I don't see the point of that. What are the odds that a 4th round or beyond helps the team this season? You need picks early first round or sooner. The more primo the pick, the higher the chance of impact. A fairly sure starter if we are pick 1.15 or better. If we draft a S, LB, or RB at 1.30 a good chance they help this season. It would be nice to improve our 2nd round pick from bottom of round to close to top. Take a solid shot at another contributor with that better 2nd round slot. This is the year to move up, rather than down. If we want Bijan, moving down to about 1.14 likely works. He might not be there. To do that safely, we have to have 3 other guys left on the board whom we would happily take at 1.10. We will have plenty of picks next season. This year we want as many difference makers as possible. We've signed a lot of veteran players to cheap 1-year deals. They are likelier to contribute this season than anyone we draft after round 3.

I would say that 2nd-4th round picks are still pretty valuable. We need depth and we are going to DESPERATELY need players on cheap contracts soon. Getting a 2024-6 starter out of the 4th round this year would really help, even if he is just an ok role player type starter (DE rotation piece, Safety, 3rd WR type, etc.).

Apparently Slay really disliked Patricia as a (head) coach in Detroit. He has come out and said he was very disrespectful (not sure what that means). Hopefully they can keep that under control, Slay does seem like a guy that other players listen to, hopefully they can head off any issues

A RB at 10 just doesn't make sense with the slot/contract value. And I'm really high on Robinson. I haven't looked into where it would make sense, but he'll probably be picked before then.

I don't disagree and I would gladly trade up for Anderson. Jalen Carter would probably cost less to trade up for.

I do think Christian Gonzalez needs to be in the conversation, though.

I think that if you are drafting at #10, then you take an impact player at a prime position. Trading back just generates more picks this year or next year. They are in a prime spot to trade up in multiple rounds next year as is. I am all about value and am generally a fan of trading back, but this is a year I might agree with trading up for Anderson or Carter.

I can definitely get behind trading back for Robinson, Paris Johnson, Joey Porter, or Van Ness... but outside of Paris I'm not sure it's a better option than Gonzalez at #10. And yes, Robinson is a stud, but it's simply a contract/value situation. The team should have kept Miles Sanders instead of drafting Robinson at #10.

The one thing I am sure of is that whoever the Eagles pick at 10, I will be able to find at least one NFL/Eagles pundit who thinks it's an incredible reach and a future bust.
