Looking forward to the draft, the more I've thought about it, I think the Eagles strategy should be is if Carter falls to them at 10, take him. If Carter is off the board, I would trade back, if possible to the 15-17 range and take Robinson.

I know that Carter will fall, but I'd be surprised if he fell to the Eagles.

I'm fine with Carter, Gonzalez, or Witherspoon. I'm even fine with an OT, but agree on trading back. I like Robinson, but the team might not have a trade up from their own 1st or Gibbs. The Eagles are in a good position to do pretty much anything. They are so talented and have good assets.

Our old draft simulation website first-pick.com is no more, so I went with https://www.profootballnetwork.com/mockdraft/ which lets you make trades and here is my first Eagles draft:

In addition to moving picks around, I also included Quez Watkins in one of the trades. I also did antoher draft where I got Carter at 10 and Robinson at 30, but the rest of the draft was not as good.

It's hard to argue with that draft, but I do find it funny that the team would just draft the best Georgia or Alabama players. I don't think you can trade Quez considering how thin the team is at WR.

Agreed, but is it an extremely optimistic draft. Extremely unlikely that Carter or Smith fall that far.

I agree about Carter. Both Robinson and Gibbs are listed higher on most boards than they should go. Sub out Smith for Ojulari, which is probably reasonable, and I'm not sure how unrealistic that draft actually is. I still I think I want a CB or OT if Carter isn't available. Also trading up isn't out of the question.

I think Carter will go ahead of the Eagles' pick, either Seahawks or Bears.

If that happens would prefer a trade back to about 15-ish and picking up substantial assets this year. Should be something like an additional 2nd and 4th plus the swap.

Then draft Bijan...or whatever lineman they like. And hope Branch makes it to 30.

That's fine. The goal should be to acquire a significant contributor with our top pick. Bijan would be that. One of the top 2 WR probably would be as would a LB or defensive lineman. Safety is a major need which I would targer with pick #30 -- safety or LB at that spot -- really both bigger immediate needs than DL, but less value than the best available DL or OT we could get in top half of first round..

There will be CB value at #10. For a CB to provide the immediate value I'm seeking with this pick, the Eagles would need to play a lot of defensive alignments with 3 CBs. Gonzales or Witherspoon among the players worth the #10.

That suggestion - in the context of Tom Brady - never made sense to me. Brady had made a ton of money before he ever did that. Of course the money these guys get on their second contract whether they've been to the Super Bowl or not is a whole different world from Brady's time too.

Remember when Bryce signed his deal and people thought it was a franchise shattering amount and now a couple years later it looks like a bargain? That’s gonna be the Hurts contract after Burrow and Herbert get their extensions.

I know it is a huge price, but it is great to get this deal done. It gives the Eagles a "known" status, rather than having a huge unknown.

Hurts is a VERY easy guy to root for. In 5 years this will probably be a cheap contract for an elite QB, and I have never seen a player that clearly works this hard to improve.

We entered last off-season wondering if this guy could even be a starter, a year later we have one of the best QB's in the league and a guy that his teammates love playing with. I don't know if he will win a SB, but I know we will be in the conversation at the start of the year every year through this decade. Eagles Football will be exciting to watch as long as Hurts is on the field.

I'm glad they got the Hurts contract done, I love rooting for him and I hope he is an Eagle for a long time. I'm not sure I agree with the comparisons to Harper though. Harper signed a 13 year deal, in 3-4 years Hurts can negotiate a new extension to reset his contract to the market. The market is what it is, however, I'm not sure its great to use 20% of the cap on a single player.

That's true. But I think both the original tweet's point and your point cool off the shock value of "highest-paid player in NFL history." He won't be for long; he also could be again. (And he could also fulfill the "take a discount" fantasies later.)

If he's actually this good you gotta take the hit and build the rest of your roster accordingly. If he's a little less good, it's a problem. Worse than that (or injured) and it's a whole other problem.

Brady also had corporate endorsements throughout his career that few QB ever get and also the rumors never ceased that the Pats were circumventing the cap by funding or contributing money to Brady's various business ventures as well. TB12 anyone?

The claim Brady made less money than most QB out of the goodness of his heart and competitive spirit to win is laughably silly.
