According to beat writers Sills is playing ahead of Opeta. Both will play tonight so we will get a chance to judge.

Jobe, Ringo, Ricks, Garner, and Goodrich all have played better than McPhearson in camp. I don't know why they would keep him.

I think they keep McPhearson because of special teams and versatility.

I think Sills is a brute. if he can stay out of trouble he might be a starter in the future.

It looks like we have really developed some depth at CB and for future replacements after Slay and Bradberry.

I doubt we could slip Calcaterra through to the PS and I think there is no way they only carry 2 TE. Stoll is non-existent in the pass game, so only having those two would eliminate 2 TE passing sets really. My guess is 3 will make the roster.

If you put a guy on the injured list, you have to protect him on the 53-maan roster or subject him to waivers. Unless you IR him for the entire year.

Ojomo - concussion - in protocol
N.Smith - Shoulder injury - precautionary - not serious
Zaccheaus - upper body (shoulder) - precautionary
Andrews - ankle sprain - no update that I can find

Candidly, I think this is more about having guys to play the 3rd Pre-Season game without having to play anyone who is likely to make the roster.

The first two waived/injured players surprise me. I thought they would want to keep control of McPhearson and Cleveland.

I don't think the team has a choice. If they clear waivers they can go on the IR (or take an injury settlement and become a FA).

Why can't they put them on injured reserve?

They may have an agreement in place with both Cleveland and McPhearson so they can resign them and move the to the short-term or long term IR. I don't know exactly what the rules are, it depends if they are vested veterans, I think.

I believe it has to do with the nature of their contracts and their service time.
