Also, because you keep insisting Sirianni inherited a great team, when he inherited in team which had won only 4 games the prior season. That's not a great team; it's not even a good team. If you simply said that Hurts has developed into one of the top QBs in the league, you wouldn't get any pushback. You're suggesting he came into the league as one of the top QBs. He didn't. You are holding out spurious quality measures like 'top H.S. prospect and Heisman finalist' when we know how flawed they are as measures of future NFL excellence.

ESPN and other media outlets hyped Hurts throughout 2019, but in speaking to some sources, they did not see Hurts that way. They feel he struggles to read defenses, too often after one read he looks to run, is not that accurate, does not have impressive arm strength, and is not a great runner for the NFL. They feel Hurts is tough and a winner, so they could see a team taking him in the mid-rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft if a team really likes him and wants to work with him as a backup quarterback who might be able to contribute somewhat, like Taysom Hill in New Orleans. Some feel Hurts should move to fullback for the NFL, as his struggles to see the field were given further proof at the Senior Bowl.

Hurts could sneak into the second day of the 2020 NFL Draft as a late third-round pick. If he doesn't go in Round 3, he probably will get selected in the fourth or fifth round.

Certainly, half of this was dead on for 2021 Hurts. It's dead wrong about his running ability, but spot on about his slow reads and often not progressing past the first target before taking off. It's also true that he had accuracy and anticipation problems. He did better on both of those issues last year, which is where coaching comes in. 2021 Hurts wasn't more than perhaps average starter quality. He still needs to work in a simplified system and often scrambles when he still is safe in the pocket, such that he doesn't finish his progression. His accuracy was better than 2021 but still needs to be better than in 2022. His arm is good, not great. He runs the RPO well and is a big plus as a rusher. That's what kicks his performance up to a top-5 QB. I think we, and he, are expecting further improvement this season, which is where coaching comes in. He must recognize defenses and complete his reads faster. He must anticipate his receivers cuts more confidently. His arm strength should continue to increase.

What bad coaching prevented Randall from becoming, good coaching may help Hurts to become. Coaching matters; it's not everything (no one is arguing that, of course), but it's not insignificant, either.

And my contention, as it was during the season, is that Sirianni held Hurts back. Just look at some of the timing on bubble routes. Just a lot of blocking issues before the receiver caught the ball which has nothing to do with Hurts.

I think you should take some advice from the great Taylor Swift "You need to calm down" You are a long standing member on this board. And from a quick look of your posting history, this whole episode is out of character for you. Taking a step back for a bit might be a good course of action. Because right now this is just going nowhere and creating more drama.
