Detroit traded a 2025 third round pick for the 126th pick to select CFB OT GIOVANNI MANU one spot before the Eagles pick - i wonder if they snaked the Eagles there. Detroit having a nice draft.

In addition to the 2024 picks acquired, Howie has picked up a 2025 third, a 2025 fourth and a 2025 fifth, trading back or out of the fourth round this year.

The problem with that is that in terms of helping us this year, he has turned what could have been a three-man draft into a two-man draft. Those two were excellent but a lot of holes haven't been filled.

Eagles select Clemson LB Jeremiah Trotter Jr at 155

The write up on Trotter is basically he has everything but size. He has ultra high Football IQ (no surprise), aggressiveness (wonder where he got that from) but he is to thin. Well, that one is pretty easy to fix, a year in the weight room, my guess is his Dad will be the one helping him and yelling.

I don’t know. I see depth needed, but with the 2 DB’s selected I am not sure what other starters we need. Maybe a LB, but I just don’t see that many starters that need filling for this year.

Connecting all of the picks the Eagles received from Washington in the first trade, the Eagles essentially used their 2 seconds and fifth coming into the draft on:

Considering Dejean had a first round grade by almost everyone & that the Eagles considered him at 22 - I think they did well. The group of players available at 50 were definitely a tier (or two) below Dejean. Big jump with the "first second round pick" and lots of value, depth with the "second pick".

With the 172nd pick the Eagles finally select someone on the OL, G Trevor Keegan from Michigan

The guy they took in the 6th round, WR Johnny Wilson from Florida State is interesting, he’s 6’6, 231lbs, and there is talk they might convert him to a TE.

And the Eagles final pick was another OL Dylan McMahon from NC State. I think they are done for the day. I like the draft. A couple projects, but they got decent value, didn’t reach for Trotter, Shipley and smith were good picks too. The two Guards are good OL depth, with Stoutland, I trust they know what their doing.

My only real concern now is OT depth and LB depth. I don’t know how much you can really count on Trotter yet, my guess is he needs a year.

We drafted no less than 4 guys who seem like they could be return men. I wonder if Covey is feeling comfortable, his roster spot could be in grave danger after being (arguably) the best Punt Returner in the league.

Sadly I think Boston Scott’s tenure is over barring a few injuries

So, Trader Howie did a fantastic job in my opinion.

They turned 22, 50, 53, 120, 161, 171, 172 and 210 into 22, 40, 94 127, 152, 155, 172, 185 and 190 and ended up netting 2025 3rd, 4th and 5th round picks.
