Actually, I have more issues with the offensive game plan and play calling. We know they budget not to have LBs, so that isn't on Desai. I don't see why the back-up TE has to be so awful as a receiver.

How many receivers do you think the Eagles have? Without Goedert the #3/4 targets were Gainwell and Quez. This team is very top heavy.

Ex-Colts LB Shaquille Leonard signs one-year deal with Eagles

Don’t know if it helps or hurts to get Leonard, but the LB we have are simply not good enough.

Cunningham is very sold run defender, but is useless in the pass game.

Morrow is just a good backup, despite his 3 sack game

Eliss is a ST player and a project to be part of the defense.

Dean is probably out for the year.

Honestly, we need more help than just Leonard, who may not have much left in him.

Shaq Leonard won't help much. He's better than we have, but the LB position is in such bad shape that it will prevent the Eagles from reaching the Super Bowl. It's possible they don't even reach the NFCC game.

Even when Leonard was good, he was primarily a run-stopping LB. Our problem isn't really run-stopping. I watchd a YouTube video on Leonard and it was 2/3 highlights from 2 years ago or older, and even in those highlights he was just OK.

NFL got criticism for all the penalties called in the Thursday night game. I have a feeling that the Niners were doing a lot of holding on Eagles receivers. They are too good not to find a way to get open with all that time Jalen had to pass.

Seth Joyner is better right now than Shaq Leonard is. This is not a good signing.

Desperation signing, hope they can find a role for a LB who runs a 5.0 40-yard-dash and doesn't know their scheme.

There was nobody else to sign that would be better than what they have now.

They could have signed you; you have as much of a chance of helping as Leonard does.

They could also have played VanSumeren, who at least can run.

I have no idea what I'm talking about, but I feel like Byard has not been very good this year and suspect Leonard will be similar - a former great player that can still play but is not in their prime (add robert quinn to that mix). I like the CJGJ and Swift pickups because even if they are rentals, they play at a high level still. But I agree with MJS, its not like there are players in their prime sitting at home waiting for a call in the middle of the season.

Yea, it is unusual to pick up a guy that plays well at this time. Last year we picked up Suh, who was a terrible human being, but could still play (we also picked up Joseph, who could not). I realize those were earlier in the season, but they were guys that were on the street.

Leonard is an exception in that he was a release, and he really was a very good player fairly recently. That said, he has had injuries that I suspect have left him too slow to contribute.

If we need a run stuffing LB this might be a great pickup. We don’t need that at all, we need help in coverage and he probably can’t do that.

Ertz is still a guy I hope we also get. He can still catch. He can’t run like he once did, but as a 3rd TE he is probably an upgrade for certain.

Suh is terrific human being. I have met him. Beloved in every community he's played in. Was just a dirty player (and even then it's been a long time since he played on that kind of edge). Hardly Lenny Dykstra or Kobe Bryant.

Desai has taken the blame for Sunday's loss, but in the end they are going to have to outscore people.

They have to be successful at running the ball. This will keep the defense off the field for longer stretches, control the clock..etc. I think the team could be better next year if the Eagles ramp up the defense. I'm also not convinced that the offense is being run by the best play designers.

The Eagles released Christian Ellis to make room from Leonard.
