There are a lot of people defending Gannon's defense, in some cases convincingly. But separately from that I think his tactical abilities as a defensive coordinator have exactly nothing to do with why he's considered a potential good head coach. (And, conversely, the Eagles have had a lot of good coordinators, particularly on defense, who were bad head coaches).

A lot of the open receivers over the middle were not being covered by Slay or Bradberry. Missing Maddox is significant.

Honestly, I don't think you can win playoff games playing the "keep things in front of you" style. Joseph and Suh seem to have improved the running defense and the interior pass rush. I think we have to change the scheme a little bit against better teams to win against top teams, but I don't know if Gannon and Siriani agree.

Titans will be a stiff test. As will the Giants and Cowboys on the road.

That is almost certainly the issue. It's been more than good enough, and apparently thriving on most of the metrics the team cares about internally (the run issues aside), but will that hold up when there are nothing but big games and better teams?

Though I also wonder how much autonomy Gannon actually has, i.e. does some of the philosophy start with Howie, and/or the analytics department?

This is a great point - the qualities that make a coach a great coordinator are the not the same qualities that make a great head coach.

Gannon once again doing nothing to stop one of the worst offenses in the league. Rushing 4 on every play. Running the exact same bend don't break defense on every play, no variation at all, except doing it against a guy that knows how to beat that defense. Any chance he will be hired by someone to be a Head Coach at halftime?

Would guess that Gannon has a rule to never rush more than the four linemen until the second half. I’m not a fan of conservative defenses, BUT, you can’t be completely predictable not to blitz and if the other team is moving at will, you have to switch it up somehow.

I don’t follow statistics in football, but it appears that our second half defense, after Gannon makes halftime adjustments, is better than first half.

A bit of a foregone conclusion, but the Eagles can clinch the playoffs today with a win and the 49ers and Seahawks lose or tie and the Commanders lose.

With 2 wins the Eagles are in without other conditions.

AJ Brown's 2nd TD. "I am simply bigger and stronger than you. That is my football". I have no idea how the guy could cover him better, needed to turn around and knock the ball away I guess, but it was almost a laughable overmatch.

28-10 in a trap game I really thought we were in trouble. Eagles DL have shutdown Titans running game and Eagles O has simply said, ok, you guys are great against the run, but terrible again the pass. No problem.

Titans would be foolish to send Tanneyhill back out there. The Eagles DL are having a great game and if the Titans have to throw the ball the QB is going to get killed. Tanneyhill, despite some nice runs, is missing some mobility. They need to raise the flag, put the backup in and worry about the rest of the season

It would be good to get Malik Willis some pass attempts, even if they don't go well.

Eagles should think about Minshew at the start of the 4th

This does feel like the win where it is starting to seem like everything is real, which is not to say the next five are easy. Phil Sheridan today argues not only that this team is championship worthy, but legit may be better than any other Eagles team (though obviously the proof wouldn't really come until January and February).

yesterday's game surprised me. the eagles really played a tremendous game which I didn't see coming. I thought they would get the win but with a much closer game. they were dominant. Now it looks like a 2 horse race. the Dallas game on Christmas Eve will be the deciding factor, I think. The cowboys have a cake walk schedule from now on except the eagles game. the eagles with the giants twice, will be tougher. tough to beat an opponent 2 times in one year. I'm not sure what the tiebreaker is, but there is a good chance that the eagles and cowboys will wind up with the same record. it would be nice to have that home field advantage for the playoffs. I have tickets for the last game against the giants. When they came out, I figured that the game would not mean anything. but now, there is a good chance that the LInc will be rocking that day. Should be an exciting last month of the season.

I'm tempted to get tickets for that Giants game. They don't even know what day or time yet.

Still not used to new NFL playoffs. Only top seed gets a bye. So Vikings bigger competition than Cowboys currently though that could still change.

And home field advantage throughout....as important as the bye IMO.

We need to beat Dallas to ensure the division (first step) and then win out so MN or anyone else cannot catch us for the #1 seed (second step).

The Giants are a solid team, but we've beaten much better teams. CHI and NO should be trips to the buffet.

Health, as always, will be critical. If we can bury the Giants and Bears early, put the subs in and rest the starters. It is going to be a fun ride.

Dallas will have the tiebreaker with us since they will have a better division record if we lose on Christmas e ve and finish with the same record. It would be nice to sweep the G-men, but I'm not expecting it. They are tough to beat with their improved defense and Saquon.

Ideally they beat the Cowboys and the second Giants game doesn't matter. Or they could lose to the Cowboys and win all the others right?

The team that I saw yesterday isn't losing to the Giants, even in New Jersey. Especially not with the way the Giants have been playing (1-3-1 in their last five and the win was over Houston, with the last win before that over Jacksonville). They're favored by almost a touchdown on the road. I realize it's still a division game and a rivalry game, but....
