I have to think the Colts know that it won't be a high 1st round pick. If they have a really bad record 3/4 through the season, then they will most likely pull Wentz.

I kind of hope the Colts win a couple of games soon. I am fine with a pick in the 10-20 range.

And Reich said that Wentz was the best option yesterday at 70-80%. I doubt he pulls him next week if his ankles get better.

Right now I'd think he won't get to 75% simply for health reasons. Bound to stay injured or get re-injured, and/or test positive at some point. But yeah, if they aren't in strong playoff position they could also simply sit him.

He played 78% in 2017 (13 games) and 66% in 2018 (11 games). 99% in 2019 and 72% before the benching last year.

I don't think that 72% is before the benching and that is for the whole season. I personally don't count last year for the simple fact that the Colts don't have a young rookie to take a look at (and one who outplayed Wentz when given the chance). If the Colts bench Wentz late in the year it will almost always be because they are out of it and don't want to give up a higher pick than they need to.

You also overlooked his rookie year.

If you agree that 2020 was not injury related, then that leaves 1 season where he didn't reach 75% of the snaps?

Not that any of that matters. My post was specifically responding to why the Colts are very unlikely to give up a high 1st round pick.

The Colts have an interest in getting Went to be what they thought he might be when they acquired him. If he doesn't pull through for them, they threw away draft picks to obtain him and then they're out there in the wasteland looking for another QB. That's not a good look.

Yeah, it would be a tough call if they are like, 5-8. Keeping the pick would have value, but four more games of development would as well.

Also, it's Carson Wentz. Things are already getting a little snippy due to the vaccination issue. You think he'd be happy to get benched again just so they can tank/protect the pick?

That is terrible. He is very underrated, has played well the last few seasons. With him and Brooks out and the upcoming schedule we could easily be looking at 1-7 now.

It is really starting to be clear that this coaching staff is getting out coached week after week. I knew both times that KC was going to run a shovel pass, why didn’t the coaching staff?

I know it is a zone coverage, but any scheme that ends up with Wilson covering T Hill is going to end up with a TD, and it did. Easy TD.

They drop into a heavy pass defense with 4 minutes to go in the half do KC just runs draw plays for 15-25 yards per play.

I hope that the halftime adjustments are a “win” but hoping that Sirianni out smarts Reid is a very thin hope. Maybe someday, but Sirianni and staff are a serious problem for this team.

Hurts looks great, but he missed a few very important throws and didn’t throw the ball downfield at all until the last minute.

Great hustle by Herbig to save us 3 points.

The defense isn't working. What difference does it make if you prevent the long pass, if you can never make a stop? Last week's D almost as bad. Except for week 1, the D totally nonimpressive.

Unlike last season, the O-line reserves have looked good. They should just let every kickoff go into the endzone.

The OLine reserves are doing there best, but it is the because they are only throwing 5 yard passes except for the last minute of the half. If KC comes up and challenges these passes more we have no obvious offense.

Eagles, 5 times in Red Zone. Every single time they had 1st and goal they either committed a penalty or were sacked. Only 2 TDs.

KC, 5 Red Zones. 5 TDs.

Gannon hopefully learned some things today, because he was “schooled” by a much better coach. How many times did the KC running back go 5-10 yards before he was touched? Their scheme was simply better. Our defense was defending things they didn’t do.
