Eagles 2021-2022 Season

JJAW is bulking up and officially changing positions to TE. He was not going to make the team this year as a WR, I'm not sure he'll make the team as a TE either unless he starts catching everything. After Goedert, it's Stoll, Rodgers, Togiai and Jackson who is rehabbing from a late season ACL tear and will probably start the season on the PUP. It's not exactly like JJAW couldn't crack that rotation, but unless he is a camp revelation, he'll probably still be gone.

Now that the Sixers are pretty much toast, I've moved on to the draft. This is my favorite one so far since the trade with New Orleans. Traded 18 and a 3rd (51) with KC for 29 and 30 and a 4th. I've convinced myself the strength of the draft is late first/early second round.

I'm hoping Kyle Hamilton slips to the Eagles at 15, I'd be willing to jump a few spots up with the 15 and a 3rd to grab him. I know he ran a slow 40 at his pro day, but just use the eye test on the guy, he's a play maker at safety.

Will Howie trade Dillard and Reagor for depth picks?

There are three feasible trade-up DB targets for the Eagles if they slip past 10...Hamilton, Stingley, and Gardner (although Gardner getting past #10 is really unlikely).

Reagor almost certainly gets traded tomorrow for whatever gets offered, and Dillard probably gets traded if they get a high fourth-rounder or better.

I think it's pretty likely that the Eagles trade up with #15 and down with #18. The value in this draft is 25-60, especially at some defensive positions the Eagles are looking for (S, CB, LB, Edge). I think the Eagles will try to get at least 3 picks in that range.

I disagree. In fact, I see adding a top young receiver as the primary goal for this draft. Other picks for other needs and one of the first rounders will help the D, but one first rounder has to be a wide receiver. We have not been hurt by too much youth in the WR corps. Quez had good moments last year (would have had more with better throws) and should take a step forward this season. Smith is the best we have and did well. We have been hurt by lousy draft picks in Reagor and Arcega-Whiteside. Their problem is not youth; they don't come close to having enough talent to be starters or even first-in backups and were just awful picks in first and second round. Neither has a skill that makes him have valuable as special-role WR. Arcega-Whiteside is supposed to be a blocker, but can't run a legal pick to save his life. As said above, Reagor drops way too many passes and punts, and isn't a break-away guy.

I hope he's learned his lesson. If he trades back, I trust he will get at least book value for the trade-back and hope he has two or three guys eyed as the target with the fall-back pick. It is dangerous to just assume that the one guy you want will still be there 6 or 8 picks later. I think they need to get two immediate impact players (in addition to the punter, who is worth a 4th or 5th rounder) and that is hard to get in the high 20's spot. We need future stars more than depth, not that we don't also need depth.

Great pickup, Baltimore was going to take him apparently. This guy is a complete beast and an athletic freak (4.78 40 at 341 lbs). His stats don't jump out at you because (like Cox) he was the first priority to block on every play. Other guys made plays because there were 2 guys on him always.

This to me is the best guy to get in this draft.

Traded 5 years of control of a prime player for 1-2 years and then having to pay full price.
