Kudos to the Eagles. The Lions have yet to win, but have looked better than this in their prior games. Philly writer E. Smith says apologies due to Gannon and Siriani. Nope! They finally abandoned their ridiculous game plans and got the improved results most of the world said would come with changes. They finally focused on the run. They reduced reliance on the screen pass plays, which for some reason they just can't do properly. They finally stopped playing full-game prevent defense. After Cox's complaints last week, the D-line appears to have been given more permission to simply attack the QB. The combination of this and not giving every receiver a huge pad in coverage led to sacks and a take-away 6. This is how they should have played all season. It won't work as well against good teams, but at least it's a reasonable game plan that has a decent chance to prevail against many of the so-so teams we will play from here out. Siriani and his staff have been very stubborn to not make major changes sooner.
Eagles not a good team, but not a truly bad team, either.
Although Cox was listened to, it was the other members of the D-Line who got the job done. Sweat looking more and more like a draft steal. Finally, a Barnett sack.
