Hard no to the ESPN mock draft. I would be inclined to do WR in first and second rounds.

I think that before the combine, despite a distraction or two, Sapp was rated higher. The frustration is that we passed on Sapp for Mamula, who like you say, he wasn't as bad as depicted.

i used the pick valuation formula to arrive at 21 and 53 for 9 where pick 9 is worth 387, while 21 and 53 are worth 367, so if just talking picks, they would have to throw in one of the comp 4th round picks to make it even, but I figured Ertz is worth a little more that Ngakoue at this point, which would even the trade.

I wouldn't do that trade. It removeWentz's favorite and most productive receiver. We get a pass rusher, but the whole FA focus has been on helping the defense. This trade presumably gives Wentz a plus, speedy WR who can stretch the D in 2020, but with Ertz gone, the benefits of that are reduced and we need two WRs. Not likely to get a plus guy for 2020 in the 3rd round. It's the sort of trade to do if you aren't expecting a 2020 season or blowing off chances of making the playoffs if the season does happen. It's not a bad long range plan, since 2020 will be Ertz's last or second last season as our starting TE.

I think Goedert is ready to make a leap in production and could replace Ertz, with DJax back and a rookie like Jeudy or Lamb with Sanders and Scott in the backfield, Wentz would still have plenty of weapons.

But that isn't really the proper comparison, is it? They will get a good WR with their pick at 21. They might get a second receiver with the other pick, although much more doubtful.

Ertz/Goeddert/one of the shifty RBs was pretty much their pass-game repertoire lase season. Jackson lasted one game. He is getting older. I don't think we can count on him for very many games.

I'm worried about Shenault's injuries, but I'm a big fan. If he can stay healthy, then it's great value at 2.21.

Love the Diggs, Winfield, Johnson, and McFarland picks. I disagreed with a QB in the higher rounds in some of your earlier drafts, but taking one in the 5th is perfectly fine.

I wanted to fix the defense and Queen, Winfield and Davis should do just that. I also wanted to fix the receivers position and am very familiar with Jefferson and think he is underrated and also really like the large target and speed of Claypool. Was looking for the big smash mouth FB but could not resist Edwards-Helaire. For those not familiar with him, he is a clone of the Clemson RB and they will both have outstanding careers in the NFL. Perkins is a development project but could also come in now for a change of pace and a running QB. Then I added some quality to the line.

I like your draft, I think we might be over-rating Runyan b/c of his family connection, or they are under-rating him? Jefferson and Claypool would be good upgrades. heavy LSU flavor, huh?

I’m a Michigan guy so I’m biased, but I think Runyan would be a solid addition, though I doubt he goes before the 5th/6th round because he just doesn’t have the size to be a standout tackle - his in the mid/low 30 percentiles on arm length, weight and height, and in the bottom five percentile for hand size.

However, he’s very solid in the movement skills/speed (mostly 80th percentile range for the agility drills and 40, and all these numbers are among all lineman at the combine) and by all accounts is a smart kid, so I think he will carve out a very good career as a swing backup lineman - playing tackle and guard, and personally I might try him at center and he might really blossom there, but admittedly that’s pure speculation since he’s never played a down at center.

I think he’ll be a Vaitai type, in other words, although his strengths and weaknesses are the complete opposite of Vaitai’s as a prospect.

I'd try Runyan at guard and I think his physical limitations will be less relevant there. I like his chances to have a pro career.
