Eagles RT Lane Johnson has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, sources say, meaning he either tested positive or is in quarantine after close contact with someone who tested positive. He’ll have to pass the testing and treatment protocols to return.

Hard to believe that we are just two weeks away from the NFL season. Will it be a disaster due to COVID? Even if not, what will the quality of play be with such an abbreviated training camp and no preseason games? With the Sixers out and the Phillies only starting to get interesting after the awful start, it will be nice to have Football too, but I'm concerned it might be an exercise in futility.

Yea, I am not optimistic. The nature of the way Covid-19 spreads implies to me that one player is going to give it to a whole bunch of guys on the field, but we will see.

Still, I look forward to NFL, but I also fear that it might be a very short and delay / cancellation driven season.

Andre Dillard done for the year with a biceps tear requiring surgery. JPeters back at LT. I assume Pryor at RG. Would be nice if Mailata could graduate from oddity to actual NFL player. Have to figure Driscoll and Wanogho on the main roster now.

They need to go trade for a backup tackle, Peters is in and out of almost any game and now his backup will be Mailata or two rookies? Howie needs to get on the wire.

They are fine at backup tackle. Mailata has to be given a shot sometime... Remember Peters IS already the backup tackle, so the next guy is two backups deep. Rookies are fine in that role, as are 3-year vets who are physical freaks and have been training to do the job.

Mailata has been terrible in camp so far, Ostman has been consistently beating him, Driscoll is probably better at this point, I don't think Mailata was even going to make the team.

Looking at the roster cuts as the Eagles get down to 53, they cut both of the 4th running back candidates (Holyfield and Killins), so they are either only going with three running backs or they are looking at someone that may be waived that they want.

The big problem right now is left tackle. Pryor can't play there. Opinions on Mailata vary. Driscoll is a rookie and apparently not suited to LT. Prince is young and coming off an injury. And Peters doesn't want to move unless he's compensated, which might mess up the Eagles' cap situation. If Peters were willing to move I think I'd be OK with who they have (see three posts up), but they may have to sign someone who gets cut...

Anything local explaining why they cut LeBlanc and then re-signed him the following day? At first I thought it was because they had a contract at League HQ (Glenn?) awaiting approval and needed to free up a space to claim Huntley, but if they are still at 52 ... ?

Just trying to save a couple bucks? Hard to imagine LeBlanc is that much over minimum.

They had a roster crunch, had to wait a day to put Watkins and Parks on IR so they had to release 1 player to stay under limit. Then putting those two onIR opened up 2 spots, 1 of which went to LeBlanc

I wish they had just had a quiet agreement with McCown to stay in shape and not wasted a PS spot on him.

One of the odd rule changes this year is that 2 guys on the practice squad can be active each week (unless I am mistaken) so those spots have even more value than other years.

To make the claim for Huntley who was claimed on waivers they had to release a guy who was on the existing roster and it could not be from adding someone to IR.

But it's 16 instead of 10 now. McCown isn't even going to be physically joining the team.
