Other than the Hurts pick this has been a pretty decent draft. We'll have to see how it plays out, though.

I think looking at it through the Eagles' lens, they view #2 QB as a starting position even if the player doesn't start. And the Hurts pick means they have decided Sudfeld isn't the man for that job.

I think we draft a boatload of O-linemen at this point. And a RB? And a #3 TE?

The SB trophy gives him a lot of cover and Lurie usually makes personnel decisions in a pretty methodical way plus he has already brought Roseman back from the trash heap once before. I have to believe we'd have to have consecutive losing seasons before Lurie acted.

This is it. In the PO game against Seattle,the Eagles were an honest statement by McCown about how badly his hamstring injury was from having to put Greg Ward in as their QB. These days, every team needs two QBs of ability on the roster. Wentz is one; last season there wasn't a second. After the top three QBs went off of the board in this draft, the drop off in talent at the position was dramatic. (We'll have to wait and see if Love pans out in GB) Hurts was going to be taken before the Eagles had a chance to pick in round three.

You also have to consider they used draft assets to secure one of the CB positions.

Still, we could have had Mims instead of Hurts is what hurts............ But, I do think you are right. The Eagles really wanted Hurts.

That much, that the Eagles really wanted Hurts, is the key point. Was he the best player on their draft board? I guess we'll never know.

I get to see a lot of SEC football. When at Alabama, he won because it was a great team and he was not called to win with his arm. He won with his legs and with shorter passes. When pressed, he looked terrible in my opinion, in the passing game. Someone must have got a hold of him at Oklahoma because he improved tremendously. The thing I really like about him is he is a true leader, yet is humble. He can fire a team up, leads by example. And he is a great athlete, tough, durable. He will help the Eagles. I am just not sold on that this Eagles team should have used such a valuable pick on him. I was comfortable totally relying on Carson. And the Virginia QB is the guy I would have picked up, much later.

Howie's job is safe as ever and it's not like they can fire Joe Douglas for this one. With something like the Hurts pick (and Reagor too) surely everyone (Howie, Pederson, Weidl) was on the same page.

Great to see us get Wanogho, who I really think is underrated. Watched a few games this year and he really stood out.

What Howie did was buy a lot of lottery cards. I don't think he drafted one starter in the whole draft, except maybe Reagor who may only start because of the absolute void at the position. I think he did a good job accumulating late picks, but blowing the top of the draft is inexcusable.

Oh, and he helped the Cowboys by giving them their new center...

The common theme with all of the wide receivers the Eagles got, including Goodwin is drops. Hopefully, they can correct that for whichever ones make the roster or else did we just get Nelson Agholor 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0...

Okay, seeing the whole draft in context there are two sins that Howie committed. 1. He didn't trade up for Lamb who is a true # 1 receiver, but I won't bang him too hard for that because that would have cost them their 2nd round pick or more, but it would have landed them a day one starter. 2. The bigger sin was not trading out of 21, he could have gotten an extra 2 and 3 or 4 for doing that, and it would not have been as crazy if he drafted Hurts with one of the two 2nds and got Mims with the other. He still could have done day 3 the same way and we would all be happy with the draft.

Other than Hurts, I thought they did a nice job with the draft. I like Reagor, so I don’t have a huge issue with that pick. Hurts is just a total waste, but the rest were really good I thought. Lots of speed at LB and WR, solid swing guys for the OL. I like the Wallace pick as well.

I think he had an okay day, but day 3 is the least important day of the draft. I'd have preferred a C to a trade back in the fourth round.

On what basis?
I think the Redskins had the biggest haul, built around a premier edge rusher, but they drafted 2nd.
I think the Cowboys did the best given the picks they had.
I think we and the Giants did about equally well given the picks we had.
