Well, Sudfeld is only signed for this year, so maybe the Eagles will draft another QB in the third round. Fromm and Eason are still on the board, just sayin'...

Or if they think they can trade Sudfield for about the same value as this pick, even next year (or is completely free?)

Otherwise one would think Hurts actually gets on the field at the same time as Wentz occasionally.

Sudfeld was an UFA this year and was so confident that he wasn't going to get a single other offer, he re-signed here for like 1 million on day 1. Pretty sure he has zero trade value

Well, it seems ridiculous that people are saying this is a reflection on the Eagles' confidence in Wentz somehow, which is how the press seems to be ginning up interest. Even first-round QBs bust all the time.

From the sound of it this isn't just Howie though. Weidl and Press Taylor were all over him too.

Seriously, I think this is the stupidest draft pick since I've been an Eagles fan, and that includes the fireman and Jon Harris.

I hope I'm really, really off-base here, but the guy is a real project, will ideally sit behind our $168M starter, and is an instant locker-room/media controversy. You might as well have just detonated a stink bomb in the locker room during halftime.

I guess it makes a little sense if all other needs had been filled but we have huge holes in this team that a 2nd round pick could have been used for. As many reports are now saying, it reflects the Eagles belief that Carson is injury prone.

So my question for the Eagles is what changed since they awarded him that huge contract? A concussion in their playoff game last year? But all the other season ending injuries were still part of his record?

And then we pick a LB that is a long term project?

We did well with FA, but the draft was an opportunity to fill needs. We have not done that very well. And I am actually optimistic about Reagor. And I would be optimistic about Hurts if we weren't committed to Carson.

FS's last 6 words are the key here. is howie trying to cover his rear end since he gave away the farm (and more) to get wentz. the so called "franchise"tag" should not be given solely to where a person has been drafted. Note: Ryan Leaf, Akili Smith. wentz is the starter and does have some good stats while he has started. But Franchise, i don't think so. howie hurt this franchise by what he gave up for, his quarterback. but that is old news, and one person's opinion. maybe it was done because he knows he is a poor drafter and with more picks, it would show how inefficient he really is. i hope Wentz continues to improve, and leads the eagles to more playoff games. he's shown that he is much more accurate in the dink and dunk offense, but the mid range throws (he's high on them) and long throws need help. Maybe they see Hurts as more accurate. he can certainly move well. i was very surprised with the pick, as well, but it does bring up questions. Maybe Alshon(if it was him) is more correct than people think. i do know that the East Division is moving back to one of the more competitive ones in football. and the eagles window might not be as open as we think. The other teams in the division have addressed needs to help them. Did the eagles?

I don't agree with this. The Giants have an unproven QB and coach and a proven bad GM.

The Redskins don't have a franchise QB. I hate that they landed Young, though.

The Cowboys have a talented team. I think they may have contract problems in a few years, but am not sure how that will play out. McCarthey is an ok coach, but terrible game manager. Jerry Jones is taking flashy picks that will look good on draft night.
