I would almost say "depends on the draft".

The simple fact is that while we need talent at WR, we have slots already alocated that we can't do much about. DJax will be on the team. Ortega-Whiteside will unfortunately waste a roster spot. Greg Ward has earned it. Hard to really have 6, 5 is more reasonable and we honestly may be stuck with Jeffries for a year (or just send him home with a fake injury). That is 4, we need to draft a guy to frankly give us someone that can actually play the position. Hard to use a spot on a "lets see".

TE is more interesting. I would actually not mind if they went after Trey Burton, he is a good "can do many things", plays ST, probably wouldnt mind coming back and he can also line up at WR and RB. He also throws a fairly nice pass. We need a 3rd TE and we need to draft other things, but the one caveat is that Ertz turned down a contract extension and Goeddert probably would love to go to Dallas, so we might need to plan for the future a little, but I would rather see us give Burton a 2 year contract and look at drafting a replacement for 1 of the other 2 next year.

The 49ers are open to trading both of their 1st round picks (13 and 31). They have no picks in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th rounds. They do have 2 picks each in the 5th, 6th and 7th rounds.

I would trade 21, 53 (our 2nd) and next years 1st (which could be pretty late in the 1st round) plus Rasul Douglas. According to the current pick value chart the Eagles package would be worth from 1780 to 1900 points (depending where the 2021 1st lands assuming somewhere in the last 8 picks of the first round).

In return we get 13, 31, 156 (their 5th) and 217 (their 7th) worth 1781.2 points, so very fair trade

Then you go to the Browns, who have two 3rd round picks but no 5ths and you trade 31, 103 (our 3rd) and (168 our 5th) worth 711 points to the Browns for 41 (their 2nd) and 74 (their 3rd) worth 710 points.

So in essence we send picks 21, 53, 103, 168, Douglas and the 2021 first for picks 13, 41, 74, 156 and 217. So for the cost of the 2021 first rounder and Douglass, we move up in round 1 from 21 to 13, in round 2 from 53 to 41, in round 3 from pick 103 to 74 and in round 5 from 168 to 156 and add an early 7th round pick. Most importantly, it assures we get one of the top WRs. The only way this could go wrong is if the Eagles are terrible and end up with a high 1st round pick in 2021, but I don't see that happening.

I like your trade but I don't think the 49ers are the right partner. They want to move out of the 1st round and gain multiple picks in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th to restock their low salary pipeline. They also need salary for the upcoming years. Two first round picks this year would eat away at the flexibility they want.

I think they are better off trading 13 now and gaining multiple picks and trading 31 on Thursday when someone falls that another team wants. If they do trade both 1st rounders, I predict it will be two separate transactions.

Well, to match up with the 49ers to get just 13 (1150 points), the Eagles would have to give up 21 and 53 (1170 points) to match up points wise, you could even ask for pick 176 back as well to make the points match, so they still don't get 3rd or 4th round picks.

Here’s my crazy thought - the Eagles need to get younger, clear some cap space and get more picks and the one place they have a clear surplus is at TE. Ertz will 30 y.o. In November and Dallas Goedert looked really good last year, and Ertz needs a new contract at the end of the year.

The Colts need a TE, have no first round pick and need a QB to develop behind Rivers and want to get up into the first round. Assuming one of the 4 QBs drop to the Eagles pick, I’d be willing to deal #21 and Ertz for #34, #44 and maybe a 2nd or 3rd Round pick next year.

Would allow the Eagles to still get someone like Aiyuk or Shenault or Reagor, draft Cole Kmet as an Ertz replacement and the Colts can draft Love (1st round picks come with a 5th year option which is very valuable when drafting a QB) at #21 and have Ertz for this year at least with Rivers, and can franchise him if they want. Both teams win in that situation, I think.

I am thinking you are over valuing one year of Ertz here, as I am sure we would do that deal.

My guess is one year of Ertz probably only gets you a 3rd or 4th round pick. His value is dropping due to age I am guessing and when he declined the extension his value probably fell through the floor.

I actually think we might see Ertz get moved this offseason, it would be a big "shock" but it might fall under the "if we dont make Goedert the starter we will lose him too" theory. I would hate to lose Ertz but it is hard to extend him and have any hope of keeping Goedert. Both would probably sign deals that would net us a 3rd round pick in FA, so that might set their value (although we wont get that pick for a couple years at least, so that lowers it a little).

I honestly think you might see the Eagles make some moves to get 2021 Draft picks to get the team younger. We have a fairly locked down roster coming into this year, but after this year we have open spots to start filling in with younger players.

Howie is the king of draft day trades, my guess is we will have a few surprises in the next 72 hours.

I think he’s reasonably likely to be moved as paying him market rates at 30 years old with Goedert on the team is a poor allocation of cap space.

You may be right - thought process is that #34 plus #44 gets you to maybe #15 or so - here they are getting #21 instead, so Ertz for next years 3rd rounder probably balances that out. YMMV.

I make that deal only if I don't expect this year's season to be played. Wentz needs a top WR, which we have a chance of landing at 21, but not at 34. Ertz is Wentz's favorite receiver. The Eagles have learned to profit from having both Ertz and Goedert in the game together. This is a trade which really degrades this year's offense, if a season is played. Ertz hasn't shown significant signs of losing his ability. If there is a football season played this year, I think the primary Eagles goal must be the proper development of Wentz as a top QB. His receiving staff last year was awful and made it close to a lost year for Wentz in terms of development.

And, honestly, I don't think anyone knows the answer to that question right now. Which is why I think draft day trades may be at an all time low. Teams may rather keep their talent they had last season together so more people come into the season having practiced and played together in the past.

What Wentz did last year was amazing, considering the WR situation. He is the only 4,000 yd passer in league history without a 500 yd WR. He somehow managed a 93 passer rating. If he stays healthy and if he has even a league average WR corp, he could truly be great.

I don't disagree with that, but after game 1 Wentz was almost entirely focused upon the short game and the Eagles offense was very nonexplosive. Game 1 was a look at the sort of QB Wentz should be developed to be. Hard to do that when almost all of your passes are to TEs and RBs.

Not surprising he didn't return to Eagles. He doesn't want to be the #3 TE and the Eagles weren't likely to pay whatever the Colts paid, since, barring injury, he wouldn't have gotten a lot of playing time in Philly.

All right draft nuts, I get one free prop bet, should I go with:

First WR taken (Lamb or Jeudy, Ruggs if I want bigger odds)

Second QB taken (Herbert or Tua, Love for bigger odds)

or

first round WRs over/under 5.5 (payoff not great for the over)

Could also bet on Jefferson to go 21st or higher (also not great payoff, but likely/acceptable).

Eagles 10 to 1 to get Ruggs or Lamb, 15 to 1 Jeudy.

I think I'd go Jeudy as first WR since he fits more schemes.

I like over 5.5 since there are more things that could happen to push it over than to keep it under.

Yeah the over 5.5 is the safe (and thus lower-paying) bet. Jeudy vs. Lamb is basically a toss-up. The Jefferson bet might be the most entertaining in terms of waiting to see if he goes, or drops to the Eagles (but if they pass on him w/o trading down I lose).

I'd be more interested if the Eagles trade up into the 8 to 14 area to grab one of the top receivers. I can't see them staying at 21, I don't think any of the top 4 receivers make it there.

I don't think I'm betting on that. Seems to me a non-WR or a trade-down more likely.
