I was planning to trade down every round and go for a high score, but I couldn't resist picking Ruggs and Queen (and Taylor). I think Taylor would be a great swing tackle.

Just did some quick research to see how many draft picks are a reasonable number to take, in order to make the game more representative of what actually happens. There are 255 picks this year, which averages out to just about 8 picks per team. The most picks ever taken was 14. This year, Miami currently has 14 picks (may change with trades, of course) and, on the other end of the spectrum, New Orleans has 5. Going forward, I’m going to self-impose a limit of 10, and see how I do. My best score so far has been 43902, with 16 picks (!), an obviously ridiculous amount.

Trey Burton was released from the Bears, I would like to see the Eagles bring him back as the 3rd TE at the right price.

Eagles are closing down their message board as of the end of April. Sort of sad, it's been around since before the Eagles took it over. We could try to recruit some of their better posters who are also Phillies Phans...we wouldn't want some of the more confrontational people who post there, though.

Today's semi-serious draft...traded away my 2021 first round pick so I could get Queen and McKinney. I like Duvernay and Davis as WRs and Gibson as a weapon all over the field. I made 2 OL picks, too.

First off, your first three picks are incredible and are all positions of need and would definitely have a long lasting impact on our defense. These three are difference makers, but I am not sold on your three WR's. I think Jackson is ok for another year or two and will bounce back from his surgery. I just don't see Duvernay or Davis filling the void of Alshon in their first year. Does anyone here think he will ever play football effectively again?

Gibson is one tough dude and is a RB/WR combo. Great pick.

I like your other picks for the line and like Dillon for the big RB. Adding Dillon and Gibson really help the running game.

I guess in my opinion, as much as I love the defensive adds, we need to know Alshon and Jackson can last another year.

The top 4 wide receivers were all off the board in this draft before pick 21...I thought Chaisson was way more valuable than Mims at that point, and by the time round2#8 came around he was off the board (and Hamler, too). Chaisson was too good to consider trading back for less than a King's ransom. So I settled for more developmental receivers and helped the defense out with three guys I think are potential pro-bowl level players. I honestly couldn't believe McKinney was there in the second round, and 2/21 is late for Queen, too.

I don't know how, and I know it won't be easy for Howie to pull off, but I still don't imagine Jeffrey playing for the Eagles again.

If Jeudy, Lamb, Ruggs and Jefferson are off of the board at 21, and that may well be the case, trading back makes sense. However going back too far would be a problem. WR is a need but so are a few other positions that would have some top grade talent available if the Birds moved back five to ten spots and then were able to nab a extra second either in the trade or in a different trade where they could use a third rounder of their own along with their own it would be a sensible strategy.
DSJ isn’t dead and still has the ability to stretch a field. Arcega Whiteside is a talent. I’m not sold that he was coached up to his ability on the field. With a new WR coach, his career might get put back on track. Adding Hamler or Pittman in the late second/early third round to go with a LB and DB with two earlier selections would be the top of a good draft.

As much as I would love for the Eagles to be able to trade and acquire all the picks you guys are acquiring in this simulator, I don't see it as remotely realistic. Most experts think there is very little appetite to trade up to 21. I wish we could because I'd love another late 2nd or early 3rd but Im not optimistic

Agree. Most of the most realistic good drafts have come from "no-trade" runs. I'd expect them to be able to maybe pick up one or two more late (day 3) picks by trading a veteran (Rasul Douglas?) or trading out of a pick in round 3 or 4.

They traded up for Jeudy and recouped the picks by trading down once and by shipping out Douglas to Green Bay.

Personally, although I like Davis, I would have preferred Antonio Gibson there. I don't like Delpit and would prefer a tumbling LB or CB there, even another WR. The guys they took later are fine, although I think Cam Brown will be available late and will be a steal (PSU bias, I know...).

That would be a nice haul, but I don't know if McFarland will fall that far. Would be great if he did. I see that the Athletic subscription is $2.99 a month. Tempting, but not sure how much sports reporting they will have to do.

They're doing a much better job than most outlets, since they have a cushion from the subscriptions and the VC funding. Right now most of the coverage is specific to the virus, and their strength has always been non-game coverage anyway (though you still need games to analyze). If 2020 is a complete wash they'll certainly run out of things to cover but even then their hot stove coverage will probably be even more interesting than usual. Or they might not exist by 2022! I think its value depends on whether you follow more than one sport (or city) closely, for me it was Phillies, national college football and Flyers but their Sixers and Eagles coverage might actually be their strength, and their MLS isn't bad either.

Yes, if cheap. He's been injured a lot--played 6 games in 2 years. Worth a flier if it's only money.
