Then who do you have winning the NFC East. Whichever team wins the division -- at this point the Eagles seem likeliest -- is going to draft no lower than 25th.

After the start to the season, I was really hoping the Eagles would tank for Penei Sewell, who seems like one of the best OTs to come out in a while. Unfortunately, it looks like they'll probably squeak out the division, get crushed in the playoffs, and get a bad draft position.

I think it is technically 19th if the lose in the "Wild Card Round." Once you lose within each bracket you get slotted by record regardless of whether you were a division champion. But the point remains essentially the same.

Yes, that is correct, but... how can a league change the rules for making the playoffs when the season is half over and the trade deadline is past. If they do that, we clearly move into farce.

16 playoff teams would make a playoff berth even less attractive for the Eagles I'd think. Especially if they throw out division seeding.

Still not clear to me what actually triggers the 16-team playoff, not that it will affect any NFC East team (and who knows if we'll have a postseason at all). Is it only if the season is cut short for all teams? Is it is a certain number of teams can't play 16 games?

The only player ruled out for Sunday's game vs. the Giants is CB Craig James. I suppose that means that Sanders, Johnson and Jeffrey will all dress and be active, not sure about Seumalo, but he did practice this week, so he could be back as well. I feel a little leery about playing these guys, I think they can beat the Giants without all of them, and another week off would probably do them all good.

The Giants have played the best football of any non-Eagles team in the division. It's not an easy win.

I think that was the rationale for keeping Lane Johnson out of the week 1 loss to the Washington Football Team. I'm hopeful they'll be the Giants (Eagles are slight favorites), but I'm not as confident about doing it without all hands on deck.

Like a hot knife through butter. i don't think this is on Schwartz. their defensive ends must have a short memory. how many times have the ends been beaten on QB keepers.

That's a tough read for an NFL end...you don't see a lot of QB runs after college. Eagles are just not good.

Agree, no spark from the players returning, defense finally gets some stops. Wentz has been consistent in that his first halves have been awful and he's been better in the second halves. Game is not out of reach, but this team hasn't played one complete game were the offense and defense both had good games.
