Good signing, but uses alot of our available capital. May have to add a DE through the draft or hope Sweat is able to step up (assuming Barnett takes over as the starter and Chris Long comes back as the 3rd down specialist).

We really, really, really need a RB. Corey Clements and Josh Adams are nice backups, even very good backups, and of course Sproles adds what he adds if he can stay on the field, but we need a guy to carry the ball 10-15 times. I dont think we can count on Clements or Adams for that role, but honestly we might have to given the financial constraints.

Need an OL, Backup S, starting CB, MLB and a backup LB and who knows what amongst CBs, we have so many CBs, but who knows which ones are worth keeping. A quality WR would be nice, but honestly we may have to hope that Mack Hollins makes a comeback and takes the 3rd WR spot at least until we can go dumpster diving for another. Backup QB is also a huge need.

Alot of needs and not much salary cap space, Howie needs to earn the GM of the Year title again.

Good move on Jackson IMO. The Eagles will likely draft a DE or DT with one of their early picks to add youth and depth. They also might be able to get Jernigan back if he does not have as good of a market as he thought. Might be able to do a 1 yr deal

Edit: The Eagles traded a 2019 6th round pick and got Jackson and Tampa's 2020 7th round pick.

Looks like the Eagles released Wisniewski, too, sort of in temporal conjunction with the Peters re-signing. There were always rumors those two didn't see eye-to-eye, makes you wonder if the moves were related.

I can't say I am real thrilled with the DeSean Jackson signing. $9M/year for a player with a bad injury history and a history of quitting on his team doesnt excite me. He can be a malcontent, he has been at time, he can also be explosive, but he is getting older and his explosiveness will continue to decline. Last year he once again lead the league in yards/catch, but his catches are trending down. Hopefully he can regain some of the magic he had, he certainly has talent still, but when he isnt the "top guy", which he surely will not be, I fear his personality.

This is frankly too much of a cap hit for what we are getting.

With the signing of Hicks outside the organization I think LB may move up the list to our biggest area of need now (along with RB). Funny how LB and RB are two of the positions that are decreasing in value with the increasing in passing vs. running every season, just another sign that Howie really does have a pretty good master plan.

Shame, Wiz really is a pretty good backup OL, but at some point you have to make cuts for salary cap and roster size limitations. Clearly Seumalo took that spot with Pryor and the big Aussie in the mix. Just so many slots available, and the 3.5M saved will help.

I like the trade. We needed a deep threat and Wentz had significant problems with accuracy on long passes last season. Desean has always struck me as having an insane ability to adjust to less-than-great passes. I think just about any fast receiver works if you have a QB who can consistently drop the ball on the receivers hands, but we just haven't had that.

DeSean is 32 years old. Betting that the 2019 version is as good as the 2013 is a big gamble.

I don't think anyone is betting on that. Just a question of whether he's overpaid for the role (and potential fireworks) or not.

I reckon most people's opinion of the deal turns entirely on whether or not they liked him the first time. Possibly including the front office.

QBs are treated differently by all teams. The Giants' moves look like an NFL tank, similar to the Hinkie Sixers. Maybe they like a couple of QBs coming out next draft. If so, they need to put Barkley in bubble-wrap next season.

A few comments...

• Joyner and Simmons were quite the back-to-back picks in the 8th and 9th rounds in 1986--both had high first-round CAVs.
• Bob Keuchenbeerg was cut by the Eagles, retired after being placed on the Falcon's practice squad, played a year of independent ball, then put together a hall-of-fame worthy career for the Dolphins. Raheem Brock, Bobby Williams, Mark Moseley, and arguably King Dunlap were guys who put up most of their value for other teams after being cut.
• We're awesome picking in round 2 (clearly better overall than round 1), awful in round 5 (and lately in round 3)
• Joe Lavender was one heck of a 12th round draft pick
• The three guys topping round 6 are probably unmatched by any other team (except maybe the Patriots with one guy...)
