A further note on your note about Kelce: he is the only guy on your post since 2005, who wasn't drafted in the first or 2nd round. That doesn't look good for our mid- and late-round picks in the past 10 years.

I guess these days if you play it exactly right (and get the right QB) you can get back to being decent fast but the first thing I thought when I heard about the trade was how many peak years will Barkely even have with them? You just never know, whether it's health or contract.

They are looking hard at Murray but whether that's because they are willing to trade up or think he will drop to them, who knows. With Kingbury in Arizona the buzz of him going #1 is understandable.

They should 100% trade Barclay. Go all in or don't bother. They should never have drafted him in the first place, hes supremely talented but what use is he to a tanking team?

Well, he's 22 years old and their new QB will only be one year younger, contract-wise. So long as they don't screw it up they should get 4 or 5 years out of him but some running backs only last about that long (total).

I gather the OBJ deal is also because they plan to run the ball more.

Well I guess the theory would be to protect Eli and/or the rookie. But that's kind of flawed if it's at the expense of your best player.

LJ Fort:
Good motor, good speed and size for the middle, plays teams. Sometimes runs through tackles rather than wrapping up. 29 years old, played with Browns, Seattle, and Pitt. Pretty much dressed for every game the last two years but didn't start consistently. Not great in coverage, but might be the scheme and what he was called on to do. Last year was the first year he wasn't solely a teams player.

Has some good pre-season tape; seems worth a shot. In Howie we trust.

Edit: Kapadia says on the Athletic that he's best in coverage, so what do I know?

I really am thinking that Howie Roseman has a plan that we arent seeing for defense, and it is radical.

More and more teams throw the ball, and more and more the nickel back is more important than the MLB (or 3rd LB if you prefer). I am starting to think that the plan is to play in a base nickel system. With the signing fo Jackson and by adding a LB who is better against the run than the pass I wouldnt be surprised to see them doing something like this.

The draft is going to be very interesting. The dumpster diving that Roseman does will be even more telling as I think he is waiting until the prices come down to add a couple more pieces and then make up the difference in the draft.

Needs: RB (maybe extreme), LB (really, we only have 1 that anyone would want, we need a couple), Backup S and CB, Backup QB, another interior OL that can play C. Backup TE?

I hope they know what Sproles plans are, he should know by now.
Does DJax still return punts? might be getting a little too old and injury prone for that.
They might want to push Chris Long for a decision also (unless they already know).

Eagles re-sign Ronald Darby on a one year. 8.5 mil deal.

Some of the deal is incentives, so it might be less than that. Seems like a good plan, D-Backs include

who are all at least solid. Can't imagine we draft a D-back unless a star falls to us.

I would say LeBlanc and Douglass are hardly locks, both are marginal at best players. Also we need more than 8, assuming an injury or two need to have a couple on the practice squad (not sure if LBlanc or Douglass would be eligible).

Would like to see us add atleast one DB/ST type.

Any interest in Mark Barron as a LB. not a perfect guy, but we need LBs. TJ Yeldon as a RB. His team had bad things to say about him-, but his pass catching ability is a nice fit for this team.

LeBlanc was excellent at the end of the year, as was Douglass. I think they are both locks to make the team. Tre Sullivan is on the border but may get a spot.

The Eagles don't value the LB position very much, and often play more than half their snaps with only 2 LBs on the field. I think they may draft a LB, but I don't think it will be until the 4th round or after.

Eagles bring back Vinny Curry for a 2.25 mil, one year contract, with incentives that can earn another 1.25 mil.
