Eagles 2019-2020 Season

They have a 4.35 guy (Marcus Green I think) on their practice squad. Robert Davis is a 4.44 guy on the practice squad. It's clear they don't value stretching the defense as much as the fans do, or they would have activated one of these guys. They are both potential deep threats based on their college resumes.

Maybe the popular wisdom is wrong on the value of stretching the D.

When reporters say that JJAW "can't get on the field" I want to know what that means. He's on the 53 man roster, he was a high draft pick. Does that mean he can't run routes? Catch the ball?

The Eagles have the easier schedule, but I'm guessing the game against the Cowboys will decide the division winner. Other than the Eagles, the Cowboys haven't beaten a team with a winning record yet.

Bucs release CB Hargreaves after benching

Even with a lack of hustle incident, I think it is safe to say we have to try and pick this guy up. We are desperate for young talent and deperate for help in the secondary, this guy would be both. I know Pederson is not excited about the lack of hustle, but he said the right things after the incident, I hadnt really heard anything terrible about him before. Gotta make the move if we can.

I do not recall anything negative about Hargreaves in college. He went to Florida and played part of his time under an extremely tough coach, Muschamp, a former DB at Georgia.

The Eagles vs Seahawks Sunday night game on Nov. 24 has been flexed out to a 1:00pm start in favor of the Packers/49ers.

Eagles will be signing RB Jay Ajayi. With Sproles out, and Howard hurt, this adds some depth. I guess?

This is the 3rd year in a row that Sproles has used a roster spot but not really done much. Hate to say it, but it is time to cut him loose if he wants to return again, which I suspect maybe he wont. Shame to see such a quality player go out like this, but we can't keep cutting young players that may have developed to hold onto him.

Will be interesting to see if Sproles gets any real HOF consideration. In alot of ways he has some of the numbers as a return man, but I think he probably did not put up quite enough rushing yards/receiving yards to actually get it.

The Eagles are not a playoff team.

As much as the WR corps deserves criticism, and theyv'e certainly not helped him at all, Wentz was doing them no favors last night, he did not look good. The defense seems to have gotten some footing back, but the offense really needs an overhaul this offseason. Yes, Howard was injured last night. Yes, Jeffrey was out as well. But, where was Sanders? Wentz was missing throws. Just no offensive fire power.

I think when on most plays there are basically no open receivers, and especially once Lane went out he was under siege, it would make any quarterback skittish. I think the receiving corps is really a big problem this year...I hope they spend basically all their picks in the draft on receivers, CBs and a high pick on a DE.

When Nelson Algohol is your best WR in the game you are in grave trouble. Hard to blame Wentz when he has no one that even might get open and is missing his best OL against the leagues best defense.

Not sure why Pederson went away from the run game, especially on the last real drive. A draw to Sanders would have almost certainly worked as the Patriots were in full rush mode and were on Wentz almost the moment he got set. They had 1 minute and a half and all 3 timeouts from inside the 30, they should have run a few draws or sweeps to try and get the defense off balance, especially since we lost Peters at that time also and Wentz just had no chance. Yes, he had some open receivers, but it is not really likely to hit open receivers when you are running for your life and dont have any time to work through passing progressions.

I will never really criticize Pederson as I think he is an excellent coach and play caller, but it seemed like he was a little off his game in the 2nd half and didnt adjust to what Belichick was doing. It was rough though, missing Howard is a huge problem. Sanders is an interesting player, but he NEVER breaks a tackle and it is hard to run him inside on anything like a power play and hope for success.

It's certainly possible the Eagles will finish 8-8 or 9-7 and not win the East but they can also still win 10 or 11 games and if they make the playoffs they are a playoff team. They'd have to beat the Cowboys, of course. If they were healthier maybe they'd have a chance against Seattle? Yesterday was certainly better than expected despite being extremely frustrating in how it actually played out.

The problem is they aren't really better than they were last year and that was really the sole goal/expectation.

And Wentz, while lacking weapons, is not the player he was on his way to being in 2017. Doesn't mean he won't yet be (so long as he can stay healthy, but that's also a big if).

The good news is the schedule.

Cowboys have a horrific schedule. Honestly, they will probably be wildly luck to win 3 more, maybe only 1-2.

The Eagles on the other hand have a laughable schedule. 4 of our games are against Washington, NYG (x2) and Miami. If we can't sweep that then we shouldnt be talking about the playoffs.

The game against the Cowboys is of course crucial, especially with last nights loss and a very probable loss to Seattle next week. If we lose to the Cowboys we would have 9 wins and need them to lose all but 1 of their other games. Looking at their schedule, that is possible, but if we beat the Cowboys we are honestly in the drivers seat because the Cowboys still have Patriots, Bills, Rams and Bears (all not that easy, although Bears have collapsed)

The only good team the Cowboys have beaten is the Eagles, otherwise they lost to the Packers, Vikings, Saints (without Brees), and the lowly Jets. They beat the Giants twice, The Redskins, The Dolphins and the Lions (without Stafford). I think they are still a better team than the Eagles right now, but with the Eagles remaining schedule, they might luck into the playoffs.

The Cowboys, with an offense running through Dak - not Zeke - look good. This is what happens with a good OL, a legit #1 WR, and not having QB development impeded by injuries.

With all of the injuries that the Eagles had while facing the Cowboys, its hard to put them into the "good team", category. The NFC East is a mess. Its winner should get schooled in the POs fairly fast.

Eagles were pretty lucky to win the first round last year. Might be tougher this year, but they'd have home field. And a pretty good chance it would be against a team they've played already (Green Bay, Minnesota, Seattle. SF being the other possibility).

The easiest path, obviously, would be for the Pats to take care of Dallas (which also keeps a common opponent equal) but they probably have a loss in them. Really gotta beat the Cowboys though.

Dak, right now, is a borderline MVP candidate and is playing quite well. If you told me I had to take Dak or Carson to win a game, and possibly build around, I'm not so sure I'd take Wentz.

Dak is more in line with Cousins and Stafford than he is with Wilson and Mahomes, who are both better MVP candidates. To be fair, I never thought Dak would have any season this good. Credit to the Dallas coaches, and to their receivers and Whitten, for helping him have a near-great season so far. I wouldn't call him a borderline MVP candidate, but YMMV.
