Eagles 2019-2020 Season

Dak is a better QB than Wentz. Wentz seems to have returned to full health but also seems not to have improved at all. He has lousy receivers, but he made some horrendous passes in crunch time on the final drive, looking like his adrenaline got the better of him. It's justifiable to sometimes get sacked when he's scrambling to try to make something happen, but when he's just standing in the pocket, he hasn't corrected his problem of holding the ball too long.

I think Wentz's maturation as a QB was slowed down as a result of missing a lot of the last 2 seasons. I think he has a higher ceiling then Dak, But, right now, Dak is the better QB.

Wentz looks like Dak did when Dak didn't have great receivers either, lest we for forget.

No one is using the term "pinpoint accuracy" when referring to Wentz recently. Hopefully it's rust, but who knows.

With Agholor and Jeffreys iffy, Eagles bring WR Greg Ward up from the practice squad and move S Rudy Ford to the IR.

Expecting Wentz to be great with a receiving corps of Matthews, JJAW, Hollins, and Greg Ward is galactically unfair.

I'm happy for Greg Ward. I hope he gets a few chances. He always seems to play well in the preseason.

Alshon and Agholor inactive. Clowney is also inactive which is a good break.

Eagles defense playing pretty well. Eagles offense is downright garbage. More concerning is that Wentz looks really, really awful. Like really awful.

The OL has been awful, the play calling is terrible, and it took the announcers a half a to realize the wind has been changing ball flight. Wentz hasn't been great, but there are reasons for it.

Listen I know the offense is banged up but the way Wentz is playing is inexcusable. Guys has been dreadful.

At this point I think you just gotta hope that this is a mulligan year for Wentz after two seasons of significant injuries, and hope next year - and next year's supporting cast - is better. Things haven't really been the same without the 2017 coaching staff either.

In some ways both of these games are exactly what the current Eagles are - good enough to hang with the best teams without a serious shot to beat them, at least not w/o a big break or bit of luck. But the path forward hasn't changed. If the Cowboys are on the Pats or Seahawks level that will be that, and if they're not, the division remains in play.

Russell Wilson is an MVP candidate and he has been terrible today. I realize the narrative of the FOX announcers is that the Eagles defense has kept them in the game and the Seattle WRs have had the drops, but that is simply not what's happening.

And the Eagles offensive scheme is simply terrible. Unfortunately, it seems that Frank Reich is the coach that got away. Wentz hasn't been good this year, but he's far from the problem on the offense.

And none of that really matters as the Seahawks break a big run.

I'm willing to say that the 2019 Eagles are not a playoff team. My 3 questions are:

1) Do we have confidence in Roseman to identify and fix the issues?

2) If yes to the above, do we still have confidence in Howie's ability to identify top flight talent in the draft?

3) Do we have confidence in the field level coaching that is currently in place?

Bring in a new OC and draft Shenault Jr or the best CB available and a lot of problems will be solved.

They're a playoff team if they make the playoffs. Pats holding up their end. What they are not is a championship contender.

The other questions are big ones. Losing Reich was unavoidable but DeFillippo was also a loss. Is change needed there or is it Doug's offense regardless?

And upstairs, Joe Douglas is gone too. Is that good or bad.

Pretty likely given the Super Bowl and Lurie's temperament that they are another season away from a blow-it-up though.

Would probably be better if they didn't make the playoffs and had a better draft position. Last year they stole the first-round win. This year they probably wouldn't.

Losing Reich and DeFillippo was not unavoidable. It appears that losing Reich was, but the team could have kept DeFillippo if they timed it correctly. Not saying that was the best thing as Reich seems to be the mastermind.

I honestly don't think this is Doug's offense. Some play design holds up, but not a whole lot. Wentz audibles a ton, but there is next to nothing down the field.

And if you're talking about blowing it up, then that starts with the QB. And that means you don't need to miss the playoffs, but you need to tank.
