I'm not sure that this is primarily a CB quality problem as much as a bad pass-rush and defensive scheme problem. Injuries have hurt, but players will be returning. As we saw last Sunday, some may return with rust and lingering physical woes.

I agree with that totally. We aren’t getting much of a pass rush and that exposes or defensive balls. I guess we really miss Chris Long.

i would not have given up the 2 first rounders either. The team needs too much. now if they blow the draft then it won't matter. the pass rush is not there. i was so looking forward to jackson and cox working together in the middle. we might never know if it would have been good. barnett is ok, but he still has his jock on the vikings field from his plays on sunday. they really picked on his non discipline. 3-4 after this weekend. i can guarantee the NFL will not allow the cowboys to lose 4 straight. they'll be some reffing in this one.

Mills was activated and expects to start. He hasn't played in about a year, can he be worse than what they've been putting out there at CB? We'll find out tomorrow night.

With the 8-10 yard cushion scheme, I doubt even Jalen Ramsey would be a shutdown CB in this passive style. I miss employing the jam with bump & run and having your Safties actually be your last line of defense. Tired of seeing WRs blow by our DBs untouched for easy pitch & catch plays.

Clearly I’m no fan of Jim Schwartz and don’t even get me started about that Sticks Defense on 3rd-long.

The Eagles woes this season underlie how the 2017 Eagles were not a fluke but an awful lot went right for them that season.

Unlike 2017 when their veteran acquisitions worked out quite well and enabled them to withstand a similar plague of injuries.

Having said everything, the Eagles have been a strong second half team the last couple of years.

Wow, Scandrick gets released again. Kinda hoping this is for a trade but I fear it is just that we are starting to get some of our questionable CB back.

Funny how last night they made such a big deal about Jalen Mills coming back. Apparently it was forgotten that he was a release candidate before he was hurt. Mills has been good value for a 7th round pick, and he certainly has s mouth and personality that makes him interesting, but his play really isn’t that impressive.

This is probably a lost season without some help at CB. We literally have no one, even Darby has not been very good the few days he has been healthy enough to play. Sidney Jones is a huge disappointment, he was a 1st round talent that we stole due to an injury but he just can’t stay healthy long enough to learn to play at this level.

FA signings aside, and while Roseman deserves some credit, he is not blameless in looking at this team. The Eagles' drafts have been less then stellar. They need to hit on some really good talent this year.

One thing I find unfair (and a little comically prejudiced) regarding the evaluation of the prior drafts 2017-2019 is that when the local Philly media thought they were really good, they gave all the credit to Joe Douglas but now that they don't look so great, they became Howie's drafts.

Douglas, Roseman, doesn't matter. The Eagles have drafted poorly, and they need to do better going forward. They can't afford to trade (high round) draft picks for talent at the deadline this year. They need the picks. Free Agency - in all sports - is a way to fill holes, not build teams. The Eagles have too many holes to fill to spend draft capital on trades.

We just keep dropping veterans and adding undrafted FAs and dumpster dives from teams practice squads. This is not a good way to improve, but it does add young talent, which is something this team desperately needs. This season is rapidly sliding away, shame, I had high hopes but the CB injuries (and poor play) really bit us again this year. DeSean Jackson's injury also was just very costly, we dont have anyone to stretch the field as Agholor has once again regressed and Mack Hollins is starting to look like a special teams only player.

Losing Malik Jackson really hurt also as it took away our one huge advantage over teams, the DTs. Now we are going to be looking for a 4th DT in that position, no team has the depth to absorb that type of hit.

Rough half season. Very rough.

To me the biggest issue is that the defensive line was thin to start and has only gotten thinner with all the injuries. Take away the Jets game and the defense has barely any sacks. In 2017 the pass rush covered up the mediocre secondary, with no ability to get to the QB this year the secondary can't hold up.
