Or the Flyers 5 OT win over the Penguins in 2000, the big comeback and game 7 comeback against the Bruins in 2010, Rollins' GW double against Dodgers in 2009 or that Halladay's no-hitter against the Reds was in the Postseason? If the seasons in which those moment arose ended in championships, I am sure that to this day, they would be considered iconic signature moments in the march to immortality, as would 4th and 26.

If the Eagles didn't win the Super Bowl last year, those dog masks and the "Philly Special" would be historical oddities. If the Phillies didn't win the WS in 2008, Stairs' HR against the Dodgers would likewise be largely forgotten.

I just think it's ridiculous that people are buying "Double Doink" t-shirts and I am sure that somewhere in town, some idiot got a double doink tattoo.

Well, one shouldn't undersell the significance of simply playing in the WS after over a decade drought, most years of which weren't at all good. Finishing first in your league is a major triumph, especially for a team like 1993 which wasn't expected to be nearly that good.

True. The '93 Phillies were a standalone team of almost-destiny. The other examples I cited were memorable playoff/postseason moments in non-championship seasons that were surrounded by other seasons that featured postseason/playoff appearances.

I disagree, all of those things are memorable. We just didn't have the instant gratification of social media and t-shirt printing on-demand (which basically exists to sell these kind of shirts within 24 hours, after that you've already missed the market) back then.

No question The Comeback against the Bruins means less with no Cup but it was still historic and no other Flyers team has done anything more than that one did (since the last Cup). 4th and 26 was still amazing and no other Eagles team before or since did any better than that one did (until last year). The best Flyers game I ever saw in person was in a first-round series against the Penguins by a team that did nothing (and kicked off a whole era of nothing).

I would say the only reason this one doesn't matter much is because the Eagles are the defending champion. It's not much of an achievement to win a round you didn't even have to play last year. But these last six or seven weeks have had their own kind of magic, and the unlikely underdog thing has been built into the team. As has unbelievable wins/luck.

Well the Eagles either pull off another miracle and beat the Saints to advance to the NFC championship game, or the season ends today. Hopefully it is a good game and the Foles led Eagles pull out another one.
