As a basketball-loving kid growing up in Kentucky you bled either Louisville red or Kentucky blue. Mine was red, and Crum and his early 80s teams were a big reason why. Guys like Darrell Griffith, Pervis Ellison, Lancaster Gordon, Milt Wagner, the McCrays.
I actually have Crum's autograph from a time my parents took me to a women's UL game. He was sitting close to us with his wife, up in the bleachers of Freedom Hall. My parents pointed him out and gave me a program I could take over. I remember being nervous, but both he and his wife were incredibly nice, approachable people.
