I hadn't realized that Schmidt worked with Hoefling as well. I had thought that Pat Croce was his personal trainer. Did he switch to Croce at some point or did he work with both simultaneously? I know Lefty considered him to be a guru.
He also worked out with his guys during the winter at the Vet. That was back in the day when guys used to settle in the area year-round and, in many cases, lay long-term down roots here. Schmidt stayed in the area for many years after he retired. The likes of Bull, Bowa and, I think, Maddox still live around here. McGraw lived out his life here. See also many Eagles and Flyers players from that era.
