Those Braves runs never should have scored in the 1st. Schwarbs with a bomb off the pole and here we are.
Phils come back with 3 in the 1st.
Braves scored two in the top of the first. A walk put a runner on base and with two out, a fly ball fell right next to Marsh in center. Evidently lost the ball in the sun. Kruk went wild because Marsh didn't have sun glasses. One scored on the "double" that should have been the third out. A legit double scored a second run. Neither score if Marsh makes the easy catch on what should have been the third out.
Regardless, my confidence in Gibson is slight.
A single, wild pitch, and single allow Braves to tie game, 3-3, in the top of the second inning.
Gibson is just not good.
Schwarber leads off the bottom of the third with another home run. Phillies go up, 4-3.
Walk and home run (with two out) put the Braves back in front, 5-4.
Get Gibson out of the gams
Bottom of the fifth, walk to Schwarber and double by Hoskins followed by sac flies from Harper and Bohm give the Phillies a 6-5 lead.
Why didn’t Marsh just swing at anything for a third strike to make it an official game with Phil’s in the lead?
One of the things I will be looking for next year is not seeing Gibson in a Phil’s uniform.
I'll be intereted to hear if someone has a valid reason. Maybe Marsh was waiting for a coaching signal?
In which case, next time Rob can have Rusty touch his nose, get in a batting stance and tahe one of those overstated, three-pivot swings like Foghorn Leghorn.
The delay will be about an hour and a half I think. It’s not like it wouldn’t get resumed.
To my understanding, it already is an official game:
Reds up on the Brewers 2-1 still batting in the bottom of the 8th.
Reds win. Would be really nice if we could hold on to this one if they resume. Would be even better if they just called it.
Any updates on this game? Is weather moving on?
CSN Philly is running Eagles post game and they said they’ll switch back to the Phils game soon, but I didn’t catch the exist time.
Eta: 5:20 is on the graphic
Yeah the only way the game would not already be official is if the Phillies were losing, in which case they would have been entitled to demand a complete half-inning. Now (should they call the game) it's essentially a walk-off.
Resumed. Marsh doubled, Segura out at the plate. Phillies challenged but call on the field was upheld. 5 innings complete, Phillies 6, Braves 5.
Nelson the new pitcher to start the sixth.
Turns in quick 1-2-3 inning, 9 pitches total.
