I do worry that Pittsburgh would want us to take Bryan Reynolds in any deal. Not a bad bounce back candidate for just this season, but 5 more years left on his deal.

Cruz, Santana, and Reynolds at $13 million a year and reducing the ask of a top prospect (Miller, Painter, Crawford, Tait), and I’d seriously have to consider it. Not sure what it would take to get done though.

I like Bautista, but shoulder injuries are scary. Klase staying put, Bautista hurt, unconvinced the Twins are selling. This is not shaping up to be an easy one

Would there be any interest in Harrison Bader and Griffin Jax from the Twins? Maybe won't cost as much

Now that we have Robertson may as well get Seranthony back. Maybe Hector will hit waivers again too. How old is Pat Neshek now?

Bader would be a real statement that Crawford is not seen as an answer. Including if he's in the deal obviously.

I'd think Griffin Jax would cost you a good amount. 2 more arb years left. Swing and miss stuff. Has been really good for 3 years and has found a little bad luck this year.

He would be about as good an add as anybody out there IMO.

I mean he would not be an answer this season. I have no doubt Bader is a better major league player than Crawford in the short-term, as well as being RH. And Marsh/Bader LF/CF would be better than Kepler/Marsh. But not sure it really gooses the offense overall. Obviously depends on the price especially if bundled with Jax. Given Jax is controlled I would think the pair of them does cost Abel or Crawford at the top of a package.

The price for relievers has really gone through the roof the last few years.

The rentals are still reasonable enough. But it's so hard to know what you're actually going to get from them in the short term too. I mean, we are lamenting the fact that the Phillies won't have Alvarado in the playoffs, and he played a role in multiple playoff series losses between '22 and '23. And then Hoffman and Strahm and Estevez did too in '24.

The best cheap fit for the Phillies is probably someone they shouldn't get, Iglesias. He is also variable and I'd rather not see two of our guys in the Atlanta system. Could be cheaper if Phillies take all the $ though.

Once upon a time, Jax was a Phillies draftee in 2013. He opted to honor his commitment to the Air Force Academy instead.

One has to be a true believer in FIP to value Jax that highly. This season is the worst ERA, WHIP, and H/9 during his years as a reliever. I think the dropoff is real, because his LD% is much higher than in prior years. Hard hit % also highest of his career. Somethings wrong. I wouldn't pay for an extra year of control.

the phillies have too many holes to fix at the deadline...these prices for these players are stupid.

The phillies also aren't so prospect rich that they can afford to trade away what few good prospects they have.
