So we have a 30 year old Center, 32 year old backup and 34 year old (lets say SF). We are going to need some young guys to eat up minutes and be certain to be on the floor for these guys and their obvious injuries.
I dont mind Reed on a low cost bird type contract. He can probably do a little better than the league minimum from someone else.
We need a PF that really can rebound. Embiid needs to be limited to 26-28 minutes to try and keep him alive. Drummond can play 20 minutes without issue probably, but there are going to be ALOT of games where one of these guys are less than available.
George also needs a 20 minute a game backup. George probably should also be limited in minutes, whether he wants to be or not. Oubre is a good fit for that, maybe we can even have some time with both Oubre and George on the floor at the same time (SF and SG).
Maxey is going to have to really step up during the regular season. He is going to have to be on the court alot, they need to work on his "dont do things to get yourself to the bench" skills. Not every ball needs to be dived for.
To do this right Nurse is really going to have to have these guys buy into "we are here to win in the playoffs", not to try and get the best record in the regular season. Embiid's nature is to go all out, all the time, he needs to realize that is a May idea, not an October one. I hope our PF has a bad, bad attitude and can knock some people around because it is clear at this point that the league has figured out that you can pound on Embiid and he will eventually be unable to play. We need someone out there that stops that from happening.
I think this will be fun for as long as Embiid and George's bodies last. After that... it is going to be a disaster.
