Yeah it is only mildly the players' fault, because all of the things that are meant to limit their movement and help the teams is also what leads to all the machinations and ultimately doesn't seem to limit their movement (or at least, forces them to be bad apples in order to get moved). Take away Bird rights and take away the ability to sign-and trade Bird rights and it probably wouldn't be any better or worse, and you also wouldn't have as many guys getting max contract just because they are eligible for them.
Of course we wouldn't care if Joel had just one ring like Gianiss or Jokic, or if our ownership and front office was as good as Boston or Golden State.
But Bob Myers working for this owner won't necessarily go like it did in California. Morey, OTOH, seems to have hit the same ceiling two jobs in a row, but came closer in Houston
