I’m OK with just the two additions (Lorenzen and Castro) that we know of. Team chemistry not disrupted. Guys that we have need to perform or we’re not going far into the playoffs. Six man rotation for a while seems like a good thing.

I guess it is consistent with this list that we overrated Song's value. But also any team in the first 10 of the waiver order had no reason to give up anything for him and anyone in the bottom 15 can't carry him in the majors.

Only real cautious moves by the Phils.

Of all the other pitchers they could have gone after, they chose Lorenzen. Looks like an arm you can find anywhere. Hidden talent that only the Phils can see... hope he works out, the starters get more rest and get stronger the rest of the way.

There must have been some pressure to find an OF, and a lot of average and aging ones were available - like the Seattle guy - but the Phils finally didn't like any of them. Whew. The Cave man will get another shot!

It seems like the Phillies never loved the Mets guys quite as much as rumored, or the Mets wanted a division rival surcharge. And then the other two guys who came up a lot (Duvall and Hernandez) are on teams that are technically still contending themselves.

I think when Pache comes back they option Cave and keep both him and Rojas. Let the kids play CF and sink or swim against RHP while Marsh plays LF. They can also use Castro to PH for any of them (in Cave or Marsh's case to get the more favorable match-up against a LHP, with the other two to get power).

Presumably both to take money off the Marlins hands and to get Watson instead of a lesser prospect.
