With the disappointment less fresh, I can appreciate how much fun the last month was. Living in an area where long playoff runs in many sports are commonplace, I feel like as a Philly sports fan I appreciate these runs more.
With the nice fall weather we've had in New England, I spent a lot of days out. On every journey, whether i was in Maine, New Hampshire, western Massachusetts, or along the Massachusetts coast, someone would tell me they hoped the Phillies would win (my attire made it obvious where my loyalties lay). I'm not sure how much the Red Sox not being involved in the postseason contributed, and there was certainly anti-Astros sentiment the last couple of weeks, but it seems that the Phillies likeability was noticeable to fans of other teams.
I'm hoping that this will wear off over the years as people around the country get sick of the Philly teams winning all the time. But whether that will happen can be discussed in the hot stove thread.
