I don't think the Phillies are as bad as they've shown so far. But I don't think they are much improved over last season. While they should get more offense from Schwarber and Castellanos, it seems likely that Harper won't reproduce 2021. Segura might not either. And every NL team's offense improved with the DH.
The defense hasn't improved at all since Schwarber is as bad as McCutchen was. Maybe there will be a little improvement if they eventually stop playing Bohm and Didi in the field; on the other hand, Torreyes played a lot of games at 3B and SS last year, and he wasn't bad defensively. Seems like a wash to me.
The rotation may not be any better either. We can't count on Suarez being as good as he was in his few starts in 2021, and it's very possible, maybe probable, that Wheeler can't reproduce last year either. Gibson wasn't that good for the Phillies in 2021. The bullpen has some new faces who might be good, but they also lost Neris, who was probably their best reliever last season.
Overall, it seems to me that we will see a similar season in 2022.
