I would loathe a Chase Delauter pick- fantastic physical specimen, with a slow bat. I think he’s got some things to clean up on in his swing to survive in pro ball, and the Phillies aren’t the ones who can do that.

I spent some time watching videos of the guys who would realistically be available. I like Gabriel Hughes and he’s presently my first choice.

Robby Snelling looks interesting as well. The books say he throws mod 90’s and can touch 97, but the radar in the one video had him not quite reaching 90. Granted, he’s been a 2 sport star and he’s just now focusing on baseball so he could become more consistent. He’s pretty big already, so I don’t know how much projection is left.

And drafting OFs with first round picks has been this organization's Achilles heal. We got Burrell, but that was hardly a difficult or dangerous choice. Pass on Delauter. Part of wisdom is knowing what you can't do.
