Haseley added back to the 40 man and optioned to AAA

So, will Bailey Falter be the end of the Jankowski era? And will Anderson and Moore stay stashed on IL through the road trip?

De Los Santos and Falter definitely have the advantage of options and the ability to cycle them on and off the roster in front of a potential short start (i.e. Velasquez or Howard).

This move was easy going back to a 5-man bench. The next ones are trickier. Williams being able to play CF does make a 4-man bench more possible. Guessing Girardi prefers 5, but you also don't want to lose Moore and Anderson quite yet.

Hopefully the move from IL to rehab wasn't premature, but BP and workouts with AAA players is still a step I suppose. Seems unlikely he'll fly to LA at this point, maybe SF?

Didi Gregorius, Matt Moore rehab updates not good in IronPigs loss

Didi Gregorius played a pair of five-inning rehab stints Wednesday and Thursday, with a three hit game Thursday, but has not appeared since. Phillies manager Joe Girardi said Sunday that Gregorius experienced right elbow soreness after Thursday’s game. Gregorius missed four weeks with the injury. Girardi offered no timetable for Gregorius’ return to the majors.

If he has to shut it down again he might go on the 60-day DL if they need a roster spot. I will say Torreyes has been good. It just won't last at the plate (he'll be fine in the field which is what the club really cares about given their defensive acumen).

So the TV announcers weren't paying very close attention.

Considering Didi had a 75 OPS+ this year, even a normal Torreyes at the plate isn't a downgrade overall. Obviously the hope would be for Didi to get healthy and find his bat, but the defense had been rough too.

Could always give Williams a day there too, if not Miller.

Well, Maton is already off the roster with Didi also off the roster, so Didi not returning to the roster isn't likely to change that. They want Maton to play regularly in AAA and they wanted Williams' RHB off the bench w/ both OF being LHB.

Of course, if Didi ends up on the 60-day they may finally cut the cord on Jankowski or Joyce in order to have another IF glove, especially since Williams and Maton can play the OF too.

Though I also suspect if Didi goes on the 60-day SS also becomes a trade target.

Bailey Falter is with the Phillies in Los Angeles. He's expected to be activated before tonight's game vs. the Dodgers and pitch in relief of Spencer Howard.

The left-handed Falter had a 1.82 ERA in 29.2 innings at AAA. @MattGelb 1st mentioned the "piggyback" was a possibility.
