Always interesting to see what is going well and what isnt on a team basis:
Phils are not doing well in the 4 outcome baseball, we have the 4th most strikeouts but 20th in walks. Taking too many pitches? Not sure, but we have the wrong approach to at bats. Maybe time to re-adopt some of what Matt Stairs was trying to teach them.
The Davey Lopes influence is alive... we have 17 SB and only 3 CS. Excellent rate, among the best.
The average OBP has plummeted across the league in the last few years. We are at .303, which sounds horrible, but is in fact only .008 (1 out of 125 PA) off the average.
The Phils have still managed to GIDP the 8th most times despite the low OBP. Our Catcher actually has 0 GIDP, although he is quicker than most catchers.
Very average offense, being between 13th and 18th in ML in AB, Runs, Hits, HR, BA, HBP and LOB. Very average, not bad, not good.
Same with the Pitching Staff. Literally every team stat is uninteresting. We are right in the middle in almost everything, although we do strike out more hitters than average. Other than that, nothing really to see.
Gregorius leads the team in RBI. Bryce Harper is 6th, yea, that shows how much that stat really means.
Obviously our CF, even with a recent "hot" streak, are laughably bad. They are dead last in almost everything.
We have 9 players listed as bench players this year. 7 of them are hitting under .200, most way under.
Players not named Quinn have stolen 13 bases and have not been caught. Quinn is 4 for 7.
Alex Bohm (4) and Gregorius (3) have 7 of the teams 11 Sacrifice Flies. Harper has 0.
Matt Joyce is 5th on the team in BBs despite only having 30 at bats. Apparently we are trying to avoid walking. It is unmanly or something.
McCutcheon has gotten on base 44 times, but only scored 14 times (worst ratio on the team). Despite hitting leadoff. Weird. And he drove himself in 5 times (HR). The middle of the lineup is hitting but not driving in runs? Weird. Roman Quinn has scored more than half the times he has gotten on base, depite having almost no power.
VV has struck out 5 of 7 at bats so far this year. Oh well, so much for playing him in LF
We have 6 relievers that have pitched between 10-16 innings, so it is getting spread around evenly. Sadly one guy that started 3 games and relieved 3 games also is in that category, which is horrible.
Matt Moore has almost finished more games (2) than he has started (3). That wasnt a good signing.
Spencer Howard has an ERA of 8.31 and a FIP of 0.80. (SSS obviously). Talk about bad luck.
Wheeler and Eflin have given up 4 HR in 47 and 45 innings respectively. JoJo Romero managed to do it in 9 innings
Alvarado has allowed 11 baserunners by walk, IBB or HBP. Only 7 have gotten a hit. Wild Thing II?
Our 5 starting pitchers with the most innings have given up 78 runs, 0 unearned. The rest of the staff, 75 runs, 7 unearned. I guess we only catch the ball when our "big guys" are out there.
Gregorius has 6 errors so far, one short of having half the team errors. You would think that would lead the league, but Tatis (SD) has 11 (eeeekkk).
