I'm thinking college today after swinging for the fences yesterday.

My big question is whether they go under slot in the 4th and 5th round (safe college picks) to be aggressive in the 3rd round.

I have no problem with that, other than the consideration of will they sign for the pool money we have left. Though, Barber did somewhat mention that the strength of the draft seemed to be college pitching so I am expecting at least 1 and probably 2 of those today.

Keth Law has 17 yr old first baseman Blaze Jordan pushed down to the 90s in his rankings while I believe MLB.com has him at 42. If he falls to the third round I'd take him in a heartbeat. He's apparently a pretty unpolished hitter but has teenage-Harper-legend-like power.

High school righty Jared Jones is a similarly ranked- high 80s by Law and #55 by MLB. Power arm and good athlete.

I would hope the Phillies have a pretty good idea of Abel's signing number. There is just limited flexibility in this draft and we really don't want 3 safe picks ideally if they have no idea of what it takes to sign Abel. Is there a 5% overage with penalty allowed this year?

I'm glad we took Abel. I don't think it the worst thing in the world if we fail to sign our 3rd-rounder and get a second third-rounder next season, when more guys will be available and with more information known about them. If we can sign a good 3rd-rounder this year, fine, but I would rather a non-signing than drafting for signability. Go bold and if we fail, then do-over in 2021. Obviously, we need to sign our 4th- and 5th-rounders.

Having to sit out the 2nd round yet again this year really really stings. Mets with a nice 2 picks in Crow-Armstrong and Ginn.

Impossible to know how signability concerns play in to draft position, but - as we approach the Phillies pick at 87 - certainly some good value in terms of rankings still on the board, including (MLB.com rank):
