This is true, but Moniak lacks the speed and quick read/break to be a plus CF. He may be able to play CF, but will be below average defensively from all I have read and from watching him at Reading.

That is true, but that was not his draft profile. Moniak's draft profile read "His above-average speed works on both sides of the ball, and some see a future Gold Glove caliber center fielder."

I think what the comp comes down to, is that they have similar frames. If they had the same type tools and skills now, but Armstrong had a frame that looks to fill out more then that would be great. But physically they look the same.

Moniak was never a burner but he clearly was advertised as having above average speed. Maybe some of this is him not projecting, but I think he is still above average. 55 tool I would guess. Not in the 60-70 range as many CFs are, but certainly good enough to play the position.

Interesting interview with Torkelson where he said Phillies scout Joey Davis was the one guy who believed in him throughout the draft process in 2017. I guess he couldn't convince the Phillies to draft him -- not even in #40. But Davis did convince the Phils to draft Rhys the same year. So why did the Phillies let him go to the Braves -- guess loyalty counts for something. Followed Jim Jordan.

It was, but I was wrong about Rhys being drafted in 2017 -- it was 2014. Should have realized that. Joey Davis received the Dallas Green Award in 2017 -- as the Phillies top scout that year and the story cited him as having signed Rhys (in 2014).
