Not having surgery is pretty typical for such things these days, but it seems unlikely he'll be healed or pain-free for the rest of the postseason, unless "small" really means tiny (in which case they'd call it a strain). Of course a worse tear or surgery would put him out completely.

You did not answer the questions. Do you believe Simmons has any weaknesses that he should be working on to improve? If so, what are they and do you believe he is making enough progress in improving them?

Practically every player in every sport has some weakness in his other game that should be worked on. That’s why you are making a straw man argument. The issue is Simmons value regardless of his area of weakness.

This past offseason, Simmons decided not to work with the teams shooting coach and worked with his brother instead. In all fairness, despite what the playoffs have shown, he did improve his free throw shooting a bit, but still not enough to be a deterrent for teams to foul him. He put out all these videos in the offseason showing him shooting, yet, he rarely took as shot that wasn't a dunk or a baby hook this season, let alone 3s, which indicates an unwillingness to shoot. He still has time to improve and he has improved in his defense and his finding teammates (part of that is having Green and Curry this year). Sixers have as good a shot as any to win the championship this year, so if they can win without Simmons shooting, but contributing across the rest of the score sheet, you have to say you are okay with his game in the context of the way the team is put together.

Apparently Embiid has a lateral miniscus tear in his knee. That sounds like more than 1 game to me, but who knows, maybe it isnt as bad as it sounds. Hopefully they can win this game and get him the better part of a week to rest.

Meniscus tears are pretty common. They can repair themselves, but I suspect he will play and pray that it doesn’t get bigger.

It probably would be best to sit him and hope they can close out the first round without him in game 5. The Wizards are really not as good as the Sixers even if they can steal a game when their shooting is better. They just can't guard all the various wing players the Sixers have because Hachimura is their only midsize player who can play defense.

Simmons is a former first pick overall that can't shoot and his best asset is his defense versatility.

I like Simmons, but he has a limited offensive role for a 1st overall pick.

If the team shot well, then Simmons wasn't likely the reason. If the team team didn't shoot well, then Simmons isn't likely the reason.

Under your logic, when is it ever Simmons fault?

He was never gonna be play tonight, and I'd be surprised if he played a Game 6 either. A Game 7? Probably. Would still rather not find out.

That's interesting. Though arguably that means he's not ever been at 100%, which of course, we'll take, given his performance. But it's not like he didn't miss games, is it the same knee?

You said that the whole team didn't shoot well, so it's not Simmons fault. As a star player, not shooting well is Simmons fault. This is not even debatable in the current NBA as everyone needs to be able to shoot.

I know, which is why I included, "the whole team didn't shoot well", because I was referencing your exact point. Simmons is a key player and should be held to a higher standard. You said Simmons is not the problem. That simply isn't true if we are talking about his offensive game.

If Embiid or Simmons has a bad game, then that is a major problem to the TEAM as they are the focus of the offense. Saying Simmons played bad, but it was ok because the rest of the TEAM also played bad, is nonsensical.
