What I don't want to see is the Phillies trying to get cute by going well under slot on the pick and trying to spread the savings across the 11th round and in the thirty-somethings. There's too much risk involved and quite frankly, I don't trust the Phillies' scouts to get it right. Just take the best player. I just don't want to see us with the 42nd-best prospect at 14. Please, no.

Revised Law: 5 p.m. update: switch from Hunter Bishop to Langeliers.

"They're out on Bishop, my pick from the first iteration of this mock. Still could go in multiple directions, including Baty, Will Wilson, Gunnar Henderson or Carroll/Abrams if either slides."

Well Langeliers goes to the Braves at #9 and Bishop to the Giants at #10. Now at #11, Manoah to the Blue Jays. All names mentioned in speculation to the Phils. Langeliers went to our local high school (contemporary to several of my grandchildren). He turns out to be one who turned down the team that drafted him out of high school (34th round) and then make a much bigger deal being drafted out of college.
