World Series 2023 (Diamondbacks-Rangers)

Let's hope Trea Turner has a few Semien-like seasons left in him. Semien is 33 and really struggled last year as well as in the shortened 2020.

Semien is actually a weird trajectory. 2019 was an outlier for him up to that point and 2020 looked like just a slightly worse normal year. Then he blew up in 2021. And returned to the same thing he was from 2013-2018 in 22.

Rangers jump out to a ten run lead in the third tonight. In the bottom of the fourth, Heanley starts the inning walking Moreno for the DBacks. It is not just Phillies pitchers who would issue a lead off walk with a ten run lead.

Bottom of the ninth, six run lead, Will Smith walks the lead off batter.

Rangers up 3-1 in the series. I hope they win it tomorrow and celebrate in the pool

He had a quiet post-season, didn't realize how good he'd been all year.

I have mixed feelings about the result. I'm basically rooting for the Rangers but in the first two games you could at least see why the Dbacks were hard to beat and not feel quite so bad about the Phillies getting knocked off. But now it's really looking like the Rangers will easily do what the Phillies could not. Never say never I guess (considering how both of the LCS rounds went).

I feel like the Diamondbacks really are an 84 win team. They didn't really outplay the Phillies, but a combination of factors (clutch hits, lack of clutch pitching, hard hit balls that were caught, bad ball-strike calls) helped Arizona beat a better team. Kudos to them, but the inability to keep it up isn't surprising to me.

I don't feel like this series has been any different than ours tho. Game one was a coin toss that they led on the road for eight innings, they won game two and game 3 was close. It seems the wheels fell off last night and they probably can't win three games in a row but is is not over. Phillies and Rangers were underdog teams too, neither of them won their division or more than 90 games even if payroll and talent says they're better

Yeah, I don’t think the Rangers are that great, but I do think they are better than Arizona.

For sure. And in the end just like last year it's still harder for a wild card to win every round. But I still don't view our postseason series with Arizona as being that different from our regular season series with Arizona. Would have been nice to show that we're better than our more limited regular season history with Texas this year.

It really seems to me like every team has two good pitchers and after that with the third starters and bullpen and streaky hitters it really is the veritable crapshoot. Hey at least we held Arizona to 10-0.

Man. Dbacks are 0-for-9 with RISP and Rangers just got their first two hits of the game to put men on second and third with no outs. Feels like Gallen is gonna got rocked before they get him out of there.

Yup. 1-run single, still no outs for men on 1st and 3rd.

Well, no it isn’t. Texas now up 1-0 in the seventh, with two on and nobody out.

He just got one last out which might be big. Would be a pretty cruel way to lose the World Series if you are the Dbacks hitters. Eovaldi's kept them off the board capably but he still has five walks and four hits. Now the Rangers already have three hits just in the 7th.

The whole "third time through the order" thing stinks because it's both a) true and b) also the absolute worst.

Rangers had 3 consecutive hits to start the 7th and those are the only hits they have in this game, so far. The DBacks have only 4 hits, but have six walks.
