Williamsport Roster/Lineup (speculation)

This one is often hard to find before opening night...if we want to go with all 2019 draftees the lineup might look like this:

Iser, C (this will be Aparicio or O'Hoppe)

Mayer starting pitcher? (will be a 2018 draftee most likely)

Here is their pre-draft roster (might be their entire roster for a week or so...:

[Commenting as I sit in our summer place, ~45 minutes from downtown Williamsport, but sadly, preparing to return to the NE Corridor circus...]

My first reaction to the above was, "Must be weird to be in Williamsport" can stand on its own! Although as you may gather, all things being equal, I'd rather be staying where I am today than heading back down the MWE.

Interestingly Logan Simmons only played SS last year and Nicolas Torres only played 2B.

Torres is probably a slightly better prospect at this point--if they both can handle both positions they might be trying to put the better prospect at SS...or it might be a typo.

They could easily be doing what they are doing in Lakewood, meaning they might share the 2 positions for each player to judge whether either of them can stick there. Of course they will have draftees to compete with. It will be interesting if Stott is only a SS or they move him around too. The 8th round pick looks more like a 2B-only candidate (Fasnacht).

Brayan Gonzalez could be the odd man out here. Maybe that is why they tried to steal him some playing time in the DSL.

Typical of the Phillies that their roster updates will be among the last to go up on the milb.com sites, or anywhere else. I often wonder whether they really put off decisions longer than most other clubs, or whether they just treat roster assignments as state secrets.
