There is NO ONE who is unhappier with this season than I am, but come on, lets not play the panic game over less than half a season. Trade Harper? Deal Hoskins? Move Realmuto? Come on. If/when the Phils are playing meaningful games in September/October I think those 3 will be key contributors. So lets shelve that talk right now.
Where I do agree with other posters is that the Phils are doing a terrible disservice to Kingery by moving him all over the place, I have always thought that. Frankly, I am sick and tired of this Kapler led "lets do things the Dodgers way." I hate it. The Phillies are not the Dodgers anymore than Tampa Bay is the Yankees. The Phils should be concentrating of doing things the Phillies Way, based on their strengths and weaknesses.
For goodness sake, the Phils actually have a potential future lineup right in front of them if they simply look close enough. An infield of Hoskins, Kingery, Segura/Stotts and Bohm is a vision to easily dream on and Harper and Moniak sure look like solid outfielders to me. Left field is the easiest spot to fill, especially now that Eddie Geudel could probably hit home runs in todays game.
Realmuto is one of the best catchers in baseball, leave him alone. Grullon might become a good backup but if not, the Phils have more catching prospects than Hostess has Cupcakes so that is not a position of need.
I agree that moving Hernandez is the biggest move and frankly I don't care what they get for him. Franco needs to go, let the justice system determine Herrera's future and try and move some of the veteran relievers.
Of course I still think the best move they could make is to get rid of Kapler and his looney ideas and let Wathan have the reigns. I think the players have tuned Kapler out, his new age guru stuff has no place in a baseball clubhouse and I believe they know he is a phony.
Look, as bad as they are playing they are 1 game out of the wildcard spot and in my view, just making the playoffs should be there goal, even if its one and done. Because unless the earth's axis tilts sideways no one is beating the Dodgers till they get to the WS and thats even problematical.
So be realistic, stick with the guys you want as your future core and get the dead wood out before it burns. But don't do something short sighted and dumb [like trade Harper, Hoskins or Realmuto.]
