I replied something smaller because that’s what I think they’ll do. But I would like to see something bigger unless the cost is too high.

I seem to recall someone already reporting we're out on Bryant and Kimbrel, though things can obviously change. And don't see the Nats dealing with us, plus Scherzer seems to be pointing West anyway.

I only remember seeing Kimbrel mentioned.

Kimbrel has been mentioned in terms of the Phillies being more focused on Rodriguez but I remember seeing a tweet that mentioned Bryant too. Also this (but purely speculative).

In reality they exceeded the "something smaller" by a considerable amount, especially since you made it "or" instead of "and." Just no "big" move in terms of star power.

I'm almost more impressed with the trades than I was an hour ago, when you look at it that way.

Gibson may or may not be that great, but he is having a much better season than Eflin (3.5 to 1.6 WAR, 2.87 to 4.17 ERA, similar FIPs). If you don't want to call him a #3 he is at least definitively a #4.
Kennedy may or may not be that great, but he's definitely not a middle reliever.
Instead of an outfield bench bat we got an infield glove who is actually a starter, and has better numbers than our current starter.

Not to mention they left themselves in a position to still pick up Hamels if they so choose, and added an interesting prospect as well (which, at the least, could be seen as covering the loss of Howard).

So, not the big names that'll kick off SportsCenter, but definite improvement at a cheap price tag.
