I am glad to hear it wasn't any kind of disaster/DOS attack, or problem for anyone personally. I too wondered if it was my settings, and also have been jonesing. Was shocked to realize I don't even know anyone on the board on Twitter (that I'm aware of)!

Matt Winkleman and Mitch Rupert are the only two people registered on this board that I have on my twitter. That said.. anyone is welcome to add me there or on facebook.

Since we mostly use made up names, it’s hard to know who is on Facebook, as we mostly use our proper names there. For anyone who likes liberal politics and photos of my dogs and cats and wildlife my Facebook account is Connie Bulkley Deady. On Twitter I am, believe it or not Schillingfan, created before Curt went whacko, but I’m too embarrassed to show my face and als get some measure of joy knowing that my having the name keeps some QAnon, MAGA loving nut job from having it.

Not using that handle here was a true oversight. Also, you beat me to posting a link to a server check. I used this one after a day or so of down time - the name really fits your frame of mind the moment you want to bring it up:

Anyway, I did find that this site has a Twitter account of its own as of February of this year (@philliesphans2). Anyone happen to know who authors its content?

bkox was like the first thing I started using on the internet 20 some years ago. I actually one of the rare few that have a 4 character yahoo email. bkox came about because I just always sucked at naming thing or coming up with handles. Ive always joked that if I had kids.. they would end up with birth certificats that said baby #1 etc.

I also used to hate the whole OX

thing when I was younger. The insults that can some from it.. dumb ox, oxy-10, oxymoron etc. But over the years Ive started to embrace it. Most places i now use TheMightyOx.

Thank you all for getting the phorum back up. The cold sweats were just the beginning. And, when I still couldn't get in despite cleaning the cache, cookies, etc. of my laptop and phone and trying my wife's phone, the shaking began. It's been a looooong week!

So, I was going to ask about some of the language used in a response to tweet from Senator Braun (R-IN) on Aug 8, though it appears to have been deleted over the last couple of days.

After the Senate passed the infrastructure bill, Braun was (ridiculously) trying to make a point that the Founders never conceived such a large government, spending such large sums of money. The response countered this blather just fine, but closed with "stop being a stupid a******." This shot of vitriol seemed counter to the type of response fostered - or language condoned - on this board (which is linked in the Twitter account), so it definitely stuck out to me.

I'm not going to feign some kind of naivete to the notion that the behavior of some of our elected lawmakers could, in fact, fit the label of a stupid a******, because a number of them very clearly could. It's just not the type of discourse we typically engage in here, so I wondered if I was missing some context.

Short answer is, I try hard to never use the @philliesphans2 account to express my personal... rage? disgust?... at what passes for political discussion. I slip up sometimes.

This board tries to maintain the tenor established by Dave Snyder, our founder. When political idiots get to me... I sometimes cannot abide by that tenor - in other places. I do seem to have managed to avoid posting things on Twitter that would get me banned - although my private thoughts about what to do about certain individuals probably would achieve that ((or earn me a visit from the Secret Service!), if written and posted!

I can sympathize, and wasn't trying to come off as the hall monitor. Though I may not have known him as well as you, I know full well who Dave was with respect to this site (I've been a member for over 20 years now... how time flies), and value the tone he established, and the board's staying close to it, over the many years.

Everyone has moments where emotion gets the better of them. I've certainly sensed your disdain for the current state of affairs, but would prefer not to lose your comments to less-than-civil outbursts or, for that matter, silence. While I haven't always agreed, I've always enjoyed reading your thoughts (and those of others here), and have learned a good bit in doing so.

I should probably establish a separate Twitter account for making political commentary. I don't know, though; I'd probably just get too blunt, and get banned. (Not too profane, but too suggestive about appropriate futures for certain Trumpists.)
