Twitter Links Not Displaying Properaly

I don't know. I've done what research I can, checked settings, etc., but as of now the Discourse community isn't even discussing this. If (and that could be a "big if") it's a version bug, it will probably get fixed. If it's the result of changes at Twitter, your guess is as good as mine.

Further to this - appears to be a version bug in Discourse. I posted a copy of the error log to the Discourse community support forum, and as a test, pasted in a twitter link - and it worked fine there, so the issue is NOT on Twitter's end.

The twitter feed on ESPNs scoreboard page has been broken for 6 days.. since twitter started rolling out its new format. So we arent the only one with issues.

I'm making some progress, thanks to the Discourse support team. It appears that we're not running a current version of the software... I suspect some Twitter changes are interacting with a dormant bug in our version.

@csnyder Chris - If you see this - can we upgrade to the current version?

Did we fix this, or was that just some manual editing I saw on the posts? Not a huge deal as we all can click on the link of course.

This has NOT been "fixed."

However - if you post a mobile twitter link, it displays properly:

Matt Breen (matt_breen)

If you post the same link, without specifying "mobile," it does not:

https://twitter.com/matt_breen/status/1161297447559344129

So modify the link just above, so that it reads "mobile.twitter.com" instead of "twitter.com" (between the first two front-slashes), and it will work.

Yeah, I know some of us won't bother, and that's fine. But if you really want your post to show the actual tweet, this is how you can make it work.

I have noticed that tweets seem to be displayed much easier now. I might have missed it, but it does not seem that this mobile trick still works. What is the best way to display the contents of a tweet these days?

1) Copy/paste the Twitter link:

Discourse does not resolve this in Onebox. It doesn't work.

2) Copy link, convert to 'mobile':

This no longer works either.

3) "Embed" tweet: Open the tweet in a web browser, select "embed tweet," copy the html code, paste into your post:

This works. It's more of a hassle for the poster, but it does work.
