Time to Change the Starting Rotation for End of 2018

With the Phillies now 7.5 games out of post season and the starting rotation including Nola showing the effects of the number of innings already pitched this year, I think it is time to back off the use of Nola, Velasquez, Pivetta, and Eflin. Give them extra days off or even shut them down for the season. Give some starts to De Los Santos, Eickhoff, Suarez, Anderson,

Conversely, if they don't push through and learn how to get to the end of the season, will they ever? Nola I might baby, since there's nothing to learn about there. And they should certainly give Eickhoff starts.

I'd be in favor of putting low pitch counts on all of the starters for the rest of the season and using a format for pitchers such as would be used in spring training games. All of these young guys would benefit from exposure to real game experience. Have the manager knock off the Captain Hook routine where he uses three or four relievers in an inning. These young arms need to learn how to work their way out of trouble. If they get hit around, they can learn from that too.

No need to give Nola extra starts at this point. He's probably fallen out of the Cy Young race. At this point, I think de Grom will win it just as much because as despite his W-L record.

If Efflin, Pivetta and Velasquez bomb their next starts, put them in the bullpen.

And, I would go so far as to say shut Dominguez down.
