It's very interesting, for sure. PFAS wouldn't volatilize in any condition that a player would be exposed to, even at the scorched earth temperature of the vet's surface during August. Exposure is always looked at through ingestion- recognizing that there is a potential dermal pathway but nothing as potent as ingesting it. If there is a link to player cancer it would seem to be through something of a missing link- like did they ever have to apply a treatment to the turf for it's upkeep?
This stuff is awful- so widespread and bioaccumulating, its like a step down from leaded gasoline awful. I recommend watching the movie Dark Waters to learn more about the history of this stuff.
